1  help identifiying lace stitch in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by poordumbbird on: January 02, 2006 06:34:46 AM
I was wondering if anyone has any idea what the lace stitch in this sweater is called (looks pretty easy but I have no clue what its called)? A pattern for it would also be awesome!

Thanks! Cheesy

2  Re: Projects from Weekend Knitting by Melanie Falick in Knitting: Completed Projects by poordumbbird on: June 19, 2005 10:08:36 AM

This is my Brioche Stitch Hat.  It was definitely really challenging.  I think that the description of how to do the stitch in the book is not very good, because I had to rip out my first attempt at it about ten rows in.

I know you posted this ages ago but this hat is fabulous! What yarn did you use? I love the colours

3  Re: Branching Out scarf knit-along in Knitalongs by poordumbbird on: May 14, 2005 10:33:20 AM

I finished mine a while ago but am only adding a pic now!

Can't decide to block it or not (its not pure wool but blocking usually helps anyway)

ehhh...my hair isnt usually so skanky either

heres a bad photo of mine (its very dark here), dont mind the random bit of yarn runinig through it thats just a life line ive had a gizillion false starts and Im not going to start all over again because the whole thing unwinds in my hands as i try to fix one mistake LOL

I had a tonne of that green wool left over from another project, its DK weight so probably a bit lighter than most peoples. Im finding the pattern can also be a little difficult to see at times, hopefully a little blocking and ironing with even it out, Im just glad this ones not a curler unlike my last lace scarf!

8  Knitty heart scarf - to tassel or not to tassel? in Knitting: Completed Projects by poordumbbird on: October 30, 2004 11:15:39 AM
I just finished my heart scarf from the special knitty suprise - seriously this took 4 days which (for me anyway) is just insane for a scarf! cant beat instant gratification

Anyway I have to weave in my ends and block it, but as I used less wool than expected and still have 1 left I was wondering if I should add tassels? Ive even provided an "artists impression" of what this would look like LOL

This pictures pretty horrible (bright red againsh blue carpet YUCK!) but you get the idea?Ill post a nicer one when its completely done  Smiley

Well to tassel or not to tassel?

PS. I dont like my bind off Im just gonna re do it so ignore that

9  Re: Hooray for me Gloves in Knitting: Completed Projects by poordumbbird on: October 14, 2004 11:10:25 AM
and we are done!  Cheesy

Well ive done one anyway LOL the thumb is a little freaky because it was too big and in my rush to finish it i just added a few decreases so it wouldnt be wide at top making it sort of pouffy hehe oh well  Tongue ill probably fix that on glove no 2

aside from that they are the best fitting gloves Ive ever had, i added the pic with  the battery for scale, i dont think it worked too well though LOL

I added a few alternations to the pattern (obviously!) and i knit the fingers on 3 dpns which might sound crazy but it works very nicely for knitting little things

Oh and I didnt even dent that big ball of sock wool, maybe ill acctually have to make socks with it as well LOL

10  Re: i dont mind the weather... in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by poordumbbird on: September 26, 2004 08:53:03 AM
pinkpixystix07 - not sure how much fabric i used because its made from an old sheet, but I had 2 m (sorry euro girl here! but i think a yard is just a  bit less than a meter) of the lining and Im pretty sure I have about half it left. Bear in mind this is a massive bag because i made it for carrying all my books and stuff to university

eskimo-  Embarrassed aww here you go, sorry they are the best i could do, i tried to get a photo of the stitching on the strap but its not very clear sorry
