51  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Bookmarks as therapy on: March 29, 2008 01:05:03 PM
Thanks everyone for the kind words and good thoughts. May all of the good karma come to you all too! I definitely think that keeping busy or doing something productive always helps! I'll try to post some pictures of my version of the bookmarks at some point. They are a great craft for kids too! Thanks again!

Lmcbride,

The bookmarks are indeed beautiful and the idea that they get passed around is very soothing. I'm sorry for your loss. I hope this helps.

I stumbled upon this thread and am amazed because I've been doing the same thing (bookmarks as therapy), but I was thinking I was a little crazy. I lost my son two years ago and am having a quilt made out of some of his favorite clothes. The woman making it for me sent me a bunch of the fabric scraps and I didn't have the heart to throw them away. As a crafter by heart, I also wanted to find good use for them. With the help of pinking shears, ribbons and stiffy stuff, I made a bunch of bookmarks out of them. I've given them to family members, to the librarian at my daughter's school and basically anyone who wants one. I don't have the nerve to tell them what they are made from (they are just interesting fabrics, cute prints, etc.), but I feel like there's a little bit of our sweet guy's spirit out there. Crazy, right?

Very cool! I love to make food that looks like other things. There should be a word for that. Maybe we can come up with a sniglet for it!

That's truly amazing! I've seen a photoshop-like program that can turn your ordinary pictures into Warhol like masterpieces, but this is truly inspired! Well done!
55  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: I miss Harry Potter Swap on: March 28, 2008 04:27:58 PM
I'm a newbie, but I would totally LOVE to do a Harry Potter swap. I've been doing Harry Potter swaps (as in Girl Scout swaps) through another forum and have some really good ideas. Keep me posted! I would love to do it!

I was thinking of doing homemade limoncello for Christmas gifts this year. I want to get started soon because I know it takes a while to steep. Anybody here have experience with this? Thanks.

BTW, I also make a version of the magic bars with peanut butter chips. They are so easy and quick, but they go fast!

Wow. My husband refers to those kinds of pictures as food porn!! Grin

They look fabulous! The icing looks professional!

Oh man. I'm brand-spankin' new, so I gotta wait. I hope there's a round five because I have some good ideas--I think. I'm so impressed by the talent around here.
