1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Creating a career? on: March 16, 2013 10:44:12 AM
I have always loved crafting and have recently developed a passion for yoga. I am attempting to get certified as a professional yoga instructor within the year. As much as I know I will love teaching yoga, I also know I will miss crafting despately. Of course, I will still craft in my spare time, but I would love to join the two together. I am at a loss as to how to do this!

I have dreams of running a successful small business selling my crafts (mostly fiberwork). But I simultaneously have dreams of bringing peace and mindfulness to others through yoga. I'd love to have a little discussion about how to bridge these two loves. Any ideas?

I am a full time grad student working part time. I don't often have time for crafting in addition to reading, research and writing papers. I have tried to find some instant gratification type crafts, but it's really not my style. I like things that take time, a lot of time, and a lot of effort.

How do you balance the rest of your life with your passion for crafting?

I'm really happy to see that everybody is on track, at least in terms of posting.   If anyone needs an extension, let me know and I should be able to grant a couple days to a week's grace. Life gets in the way of crafting sometimes. It's totally understandable.

When do we have to let you know by? I'm going to do my best to finish in time.... but just incase. "

i agree, when is the 'just incase' time?

Checking in! I'm not sure whether my large item is really a medium item because it is small, but with a lot of work in it!

Checking in to say: don't take two summer classes at once.

if anyone listens to girl talk (he is a mash-up artist), my friends and i are trying to start a dance crew based around his music in full costume of our choosing as long as it is a pop-culture referenced costume. Complete, at least with hobbes, as this very gangly kid we know. If this comes to fruition, you will all be blessed with a link to some outrageous videos.

thanks, prettyinpaisley, for posting pics! (I am swamped with about 350 pages of reading to do for summer classes which was due...yesterday  Tongue )
but, I'm glad you liked the wall hanging!

(for whoever said they were going to try to paint on felt: be sure you put some newspaper or something under it because the paint soaks through)

and the postcard you sent me was adorable. I'm not sure yet what I will do with the perler bead jelly.

(p.s. jellyfish are awesome, and not scary!)

That unidentified word one is great, what was the word that it happened to you with?

So i'm pretty excited for this swap, even though i'm doing it for my boyfriend (i like c&h too though!). But am a little nervous because I'm taking two summer classes while this swap is going on and so don't really have time for much else.
I am excited to see what everyone comes up with though!
