11  dioxazine giants in bloom painting set in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by yellie on: December 24, 2007 01:49:47 AM
hey!! My first topic in this board.

This four piece set was painted with oils on recycled cardboard. This is my first piece in a long while, so i feel a little out of practice. I ADORE working with carboard, It's so forgiving with the cuts and i love the roughness of it. Definately impasto style, as i finished, mostly, the whole thing in about 24 hours. (And if you dont know anything about oils, they take a good week to get even a basic dry, and could be like 3 months before a total dry)

Anyways, it was fun.

12  Cabled Clutch in Bright Baby Pink!! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by yellie on: December 19, 2007 07:55:55 AM
I cable knit the outside of this clutch probably about 3 years ago. I finally got around to sewing the lining together. The lining was handsewn, which i usually never do. But thanks to a great new find:
Self-Threading Needles!!!!!!
it was a breeze. Seriously, these needles could be the best thing ive ever seen. Mine look something like http://www.orderscenter.com/images/EV/MA5085838.jpg but are much older.

Anyways...heres the finished product!!

comments welcome, thanks for looking!!! Grin

13  Patchwork Pillow, quilt squares!! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by yellie on: December 10, 2007 04:12:31 AM
We've been making these little sachets out of a stash of quilt squares i've had for years...i picked out my favorites, and made a pillow with them!!! The sewing is a little atrocious on the hole that i stuffed it through, but i dont notice.

I think my favorite square is the bees. This is my first (successful) somewhat quilted project.

I decided it would be to crazy to do patchwork on both sides since I would only ever see one...so here is the back fabric:

14  Fish Food wire wrap earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by yellie on: December 10, 2007 04:05:55 AM
It took me a long time to figure these out. the fish are wire wrapped (sorta) so the everything is connected basically to them. The upper half is supposed to be bubbles or the water, and the lower half little food bits for the fishies!

15  Re: Mini Holiday Swap in The Swap Gallery by yellie on: December 07, 2007 05:55:40 PM
Since the date has been extended, I may wait a little longer than tomorrow (when i was going to take my package to the p.o.) depending on how tonight goes. But i thought it would be fun to post something that Prickly Venus is NOT getting. (ie. was ruined).

here is one of those melted bead bowls. It was something she mentioned interest in, and also something that i have never made. It started out as a plate, then a bowl with too-big sides, then a charred bowl-shaped black thing, and after trying to re-melt it, cut the sides while in the oven, ruin a pan by baking plastic to it...it is now bunnies new treat dish!

bunny inspecting.
bunny testing out her new stuffs
The bag of excess plastic the was removed then scraped off the pan.

Sorry, Prickly...but at least bunny is happy!
What we have learned: Don't take an open flame to plastic in attempts to remove the excess.

p.s. Yes, she is a bunny and her name is bunny.

This lovely pin cusion and the pins she included, I was absolutely impressed!

The beret for the back
And the money shot!! (I've already worn it out of the house!!!!)
And the previoulsy mentioned dreads, in progress. Please ignore my ridiculous face and chubby kid fingers

Thanks Prickly Venus!! I can't wait for you to get yours!!!
