4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / HELP! Teaching a bunch of 6 yr old Girl Scouts to sew... on: February 11, 2011 07:33:06 AM
OK, Craftsters, I knew I could count on you! I had one of those brilliant 3am ideas and have since forgotten. I'm looking for an easy, FUN project to capture the hearts and minds of a group of giggly 6-7 year old girls to be fabulously crafty! The lesser the chance of impaled fingers, the better, but I'm willing to take risks in the name of craftiness.

So, I found this: http://www.kids-sewing-projects.com/drawstring-bag.html and I like it, it's....meh. I want them to get really excited about it and love sewing as much as we do. Am I asking too much?

Does anyone have a great beginner project they wouldn't mind sharing? Pretty please? Smiley
5  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Chocolate Filled Butter Cake, or the way to obesity in just seven ingredients! on: August 05, 2009 05:29:01 AM
<this is embarassing...> so upon closer inspection of the ingredients, I see I misread the amount of butter. I put in two sticks/one cup--which, at the time, I thought seemed like alot, but hey, its a butter cake!....and yes! IT IS alot..hence the hunka butter incident. That said, I just had some for breakfast. if it's wrong, I don't wanna be right!!  Cheesy

Please disregard any further comments from me, I have frequent blonde moments when baking...

I'd maybe throw some baking powder in there. Let us know if it makes it rise-y! Smiley I only cooked it about 30 mins. It was indeed brown around the edges but I think it could have used several more minutes. I used a 9" pie plate. If I could find my freaking camera I would take a pic and we could compare notes!

Just made this with my girls...it was good, and definitely tasted fattening! But it didnt rise up, its kinda just a big hunk a butter. Do you think some baking powder would make it more fluffy next time?  Huh Did I not cook it long enough? Hmm.

love that! i was disappointed with chanel color, for me it chips in a day!  Huh they have fab shades tho. OPI is by far the best, but revlon is great, stays put. they just need a few more funky shades. just got OPI 'greenwich village" last week and love it! It's kind of a kelly green, and I was looking for more of a forest but as a late summer shade, it's cool!
