1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / butterfly....come see! on: April 19, 2008 07:20:22 PM

Back many years ago when I was in high school I made this--I just took pictures of it tonight. The butterfly is one that I copied off of a pair of overalls that my mom had. She embroidered the butterfly many years before I was born. I tried to do the same stitches she did. The overalls are in storage otherwise I'd show a picture of it for reference. It was my first try at embroidering. No one showed me how to do it--I just picked up a needle and thread and tried it out.
Let me know what you think please! Grin
2  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 25 ENTRIES / Watch out cause here Rhode Island comes.....(photo heavy) on: March 04, 2008 05:55:50 PM
Ohhh yeah! Born and raised in Woonsocket, Rhode Island (the smallest state in the USA). I come from a city that was very important during the Industrial Revolution. It was once full of mills used for making textiles (most made cotton fabric). For my project, I crocheted a turkey vulture. I noticed a few years ago that turkey vultures were making my city their home and fell in love with them instantly! On a quiet day, you can hear their wings flapping in the air.

Here's a picture of a turkey vulture from 2005 that I took, not that good, but you can see the shape of it flying:

If it wasn't for turkey vultures, I wouldn't have met one of the nicest families in my neighborhood. One day I was outside looking at the turkey vultures and my upstairs neighbors at the time asked me to babysit their infant daughter for a minute so they could bring the carriage upstairs. From that moment on, we've been really great friends (over 6 yrs now!).
 Now for my entry...

He's my first crocheting pattern I made up 100% by myself! Thanks for looking!  Kiss Comments are much appreciated!
3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / If my sister was a doll she'd look like this.... on: December 11, 2007 03:53:07 PM
I wanted to make my sister something for Christmas. She loves mickey mouse, so I tried to make her look like a mouseketeer. I used Owlish's Lucy the turtle pattern as a guide for what to do. I made up the shoes and hair. Please tell me what you think. Thanks!  Kiss
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / I made a wibit meerkat!! on: October 30, 2007 09:34:31 PM
Okay I finally finished my wibit meerkat. His name is Papi cause he loves the Red Sox. I used my cat's brush to felt him. Cheesy

This is Papi with his hedgehog family. There's Za Za Zues (my first crochet project ever!). Then there's Shar (my second hedgehog made from a pattern I bought from planetjune.com). Then Papi and my cat smelling his arm.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / cat bag on: October 14, 2007 09:56:39 AM
So I saw this bag for sale at Delias clothing shop (years ago), but didn't want to spend a lot on it. I decided to make it instead of buying it. I don't have any pictures of their bag, just pictures of the one I made. They look a lot alike though Wink
