1  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Cosplay Jacket Help! on: June 01, 2010 01:25:55 PM
Hello. It has been a while since I have been on this board. Maybe because I haven't sewn anything in a long time. But I've come to a dilemma. I need a jacket for June 11... which is not close, but not too far away. I have searched thrift stores and most don't have this jacket anymore..lame. Mainly because it's summer time. Smiley

It's from an anime blah blah, not too important. I was considering "twill" for the fabric, probably won't line it because it will be extremely hot and I don't want to kill myself.

Sorry for the horrible quality. It's really a "forest green" military style jacket adorned with some chains and little..flag thing. I've checked for it. Can't find.

I don't know a thing about making jackets so any kind of help would be nice. I have a hard time reading patterns as well.. Thanks. (And if you've seen a similar jacket somewhere, a gentle push in the right direction would be nice too!)

Hello.

I was going to get this jacket commissioned (and still might if some lucky craftster wants to *wink wink*) but I want to try my own hand at making it. I don't know where to start though. A varsity jacket is usually made of what, pleather? But I think I should stick with cotton/poly mix or jersey? Something comfortable?

I wouldn't know how to go about doing the bottom part or the collar, and I can't read a pattern to save my life Sad

Any help would be great... especially with the color and two-tone/striped bottom band (would I use elastic or something??) And especially good fabric choices? And maybe a tutorial? haha

Thanks <3
4  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Cloak/Robe Tutorial/Pattern/Help? on: October 16, 2008 04:19:01 PM
So, there's a con I'd like to go to in about...less then a month. I'm pushing for time here, which was pretty silly of me, I'll admit. This costume I'm trying to make isn't necessarily...hard,(sewing wise?) but I really wouldn't know how to essemble it, I guess. I'm such a n00b.

If you've played twilight princess, you might know who I'm talking about. Her name is Midna. Here's an image of her. http://th01.deviantart.com/fs13/300W/f/2007/043/c/f/Midna___SPOILER_FOR_ZELDA_TP_by_LuisaRafidi.jpg

Any help on cloak/robes patterns? And possibly how about the skirt? It looks like, basically...two rectangles XD Maybe some fabric choices as well? I'd say cotton/polyester..it's not shiny, but it's not dull either.

Any help is appreciated <3
