1  Help us with my promdress please? [PICS] in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by Toermalijn on: March 14, 2008 07:24:15 AM
Hello all crafty craftsters,

next month is prom and i asked my mom to make a dress for me. I 'designed' it (not really  Roll Eyes i just found a cute dress in the magazine and added some things) and she made it.

everything went all well, and quick too. but now we just feel like it's lacking something. it just need a finishing touch.

my mom is really brilliant as for making patterns and sewing it all together. but for the 'couture part' she is completely clueless. and so am i Embarrassed

i made 2 flowers but i'm not sure where to plant them. and i want to add rosettes and maybe little beads as well. but i don't know wheter this will be too much or not. (plus i don't know where to plant them either)

usually i ask my friends, but we decided to keep our dresses a secret so it will be a suprise at that day.

so yea..pretty damn clueless.

here's some pictures of the dress:
(buttons and flowers aren't attached yet)

it's a short, light dress; really comfy Cheesy. it's kinda perfect but it just need something.

so please help me? i know you can Wink

2  Re: 2 happy dresses and a skirt = MANY PICTURES xD in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Toermalijn on: March 12, 2008 07:58:30 AM
thanks everyone! Grin i love that you love them !  Tongue

i made a tutorial cause i was bored:

this is for the red flower dress:
it's really basic, like many people do on craftster  Wink

and this is for the long red dress:

the top part is kinda like a bikinitop : there's no back. side B of the bikinitop part you should smock just a little bit (you shouldn't see any wrinkles) until the piece is a bit round (like a shell).

and the side D that is smocked, should equal 2 x  side C

and for the straps and loops i just cut a 2 m long and 2 cm wide piece of fabric and made a sort of tube of it. (not braided or anything  Cool )

ps; i say smock all the time, but i'm not really sure this is even a word Huh maybe drape is a better word..(at least you should wrinkle that part together  Tongue )

3  2 dresses and a skirt = many pictures!! xD NOW WITH 2 TUTORIALs in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Toermalijn on: March 08, 2008 06:09:02 AM
Hello, i have been so lazy to post. but now!  Cheesy:

(TUTORIAL ON PAGE 2 , btw with 'smocking' i mean 'to gather')  Tongue

i bought this fabric a couple of years ago on the market in cergy. but i had no idea what to do with it. until i saw joss stone's video "tell me what we're gonna do now" and i fell in love with the dress she wore. so i wanted to make one too  Grin. i think it's kind of unpractical because of all the straps, but it's also ideal for the summer.  Grin

this one's made of scrap fabric. it's kinda like stretchy jeans. i turned out less stretchy than i thought it was. so it's a little bit tight. but that's okay  Cheesy

a friend of my mom went to thailand and bought this fabric for her. she used half of it, and i got the other half  Grin. i really love it! it's dark blue silk with gold details

and i also made a black infinity dress. but that's not even interesting anymore, since everyone on craftster has one  Tongue

thanks for looking!

4  Re: Black waistcoat (pictures^^) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Toermalijn on: October 11, 2007 07:21:10 AM
Thanks thanks thanks!!!!!!!!!!

okay here's it! sorry it took so long..

i hope it helps  Huh

i copied this one from a ladies' magazine. it's a size 36 (i think 8 in america?), but if you're a size 36 you should make it a little smaller, cause i made one with the exact same pattern before, but it was too big for me.

and since your brother aint a lady i think you should also skip the pink and brown seam  Cheesy (is it called seam in english? Huh )

oh yeah; for the filling you cut the same thing, but without the blue parts :3
