1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / what to do with a billion credit card stickers? on: February 05, 2011 03:04:33 PM
You know how when a credit card company sends you mail trying to get you to sign up, there are a bunch of stickers in there with little pictures of credit cards on them?  I think they're trying to show the variety of pictures you could get on your card (like palm trees, american flags, etc).  Well, when I shredded a whole bunch of these offers, I kept out the stickers and I've kept them ever since.  A whole bunch of sheets of stickers of credit cards.

It's so random, I know!  I don't know what I thought I would do with them.  But I have a hard time throwing things out.  So I need someone to tell me they're useless, throw them away.  Or to give me another idea, like put them on ebay or something.  I don't know why anyone would want them, but people want weird things.  What should I do?
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: where to find a 3/8" gunmetal tone grommet? on: November 08, 2010 04:30:20 AM
Ooo good idea!  I'll start Googling now!

I wasn't able to find any gunmetal grommets larger, only smaller.  Also the bag has a symmetrical thing going on I wouldn't want to upset too much.
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / where to find a 3/8" gunmetal tone grommet? on: November 06, 2010 06:19:59 PM
I found a purse that I love and bought it even though it is missing a decorative grommet (or eyelet?).  I didn't think it would be so hard to find, but I've checked all the craft stores and searched online and apparently gunmetal toned grommets are not all that common, especially in the size I need to replace the missing one.  The inner diameter is 3/8", outer 5/8".  I only need one, but I'd be willing to buy a pack since that's how they're usually sold.  Would anyone happen to know where I could find one?

If this is an impossible task, does anyone have any suggestions for what I could do to cover the hole that won't look silly?
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: dyeing faded black Dickies 5-pocket work pants on: July 07, 2010 06:44:17 PM
Thanks guys!  The dye I was thinking of using is Tulip Fabric Dye.  I think it's just like Rit Dye (and that's why I mentioned it, to simplify things).  But I just remembered I have a little jar of Jet Black Procion MX Dye.  I've never used this type before though and don't have the required soda ash.  Would you happen to know if they carry that at a big chain craft store like Michael's or AC Moore?  The store I originally bought the dye in went out of business.  Sad

edit:  Reading the label more closely, it only mentions soda ash for tie dyeing.  For tub dyeing, it only mentions salt.  Do I need soda ash or not?
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / dyeing faded black Dickies 5-pocket work pants on: July 07, 2010 02:27:12 PM
I have to wear black pants for work and I have a pair of Dickies 5-pocket pants ( http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=50459&CatID=50459&Grptyp=PRD&ItemId=168ef21&cm_mmc=ShoppingFeed-_-Google-_-Juniors-_-Dickies%205%20Pocket%20Pant%20%20Black%20Khaki%20Stone ) that I have worn and washed a lot over the past few months.  I tried washing them inside out and adding vinegar to the wash to prevent fading, but they still look pretty faded.  They are cotton (w/ a bit of lycra).  Could I Rit dye them back to black?  I know the inside white pockets would probably be black too, but I don't mind.  I'm just not sure this is a good idea.
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: making a necklace out of this pendant on: June 21, 2010 03:56:32 PM
Wrapping the loop with thread or wire sounds really hard.  But it does sound like a good solution.  What gauge wire would you recommend?  I'm not sure what to look for.

ETA is dead-soft what I want?
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / making a necklace out of this pendant on: June 21, 2010 08:56:17 AM
My grandma gave me this little coral pendant (about an inch long).  I said I would get a chain for it so I could wear it, but the bail is rather tarnished and I don't think it would look good.  It's not even a bail really, it's just a simple loop that's either screwed into the coral, or just glued.  The glue is visible and the loop is a tarnished brass color.  I'd like to wear it with a silver chain.  What could I do to make it look like a finished necklace?  Should I risk trying to remove the metal loop or could I cover it up somehow?  All ideas are welcome.

8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: turning a unisex t-shirt into a girl's t-shirt? on: March 17, 2010 05:15:06 PM
Thanks for the tips!  I will try it.  Do you think if I cut off the collar and don't use the bias binding that it will unravel over time?  It seems kind of complicated to get a neat edge, would it look bad/fall apart with the raw edge exposed?
9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / turning a unisex t-shirt into a girl's t-shirt? on: March 16, 2010 08:36:22 PM
I have some men's/unisex band t-shirts that don't really look good on me with the bulky collar and sleeves that stick out and general bagginess.  Even a men's small looks bad.  Is there anything i can do to make these shirts more flattering?  I'm not looking for anything crazy like turning it into a halter top.  I just want it to fit a little better.

Thank you!  I made 2 others as well, one with a bronze-colored bead.  I think everybody liked their gift. Smiley
