2  California / California: North / Moving to GALT from Hollywood... on: March 10, 2007 10:28:29 AM
I am about a month away from moving to Galt.  I live in Hollywood now, and I'm nervous because I don't know of any crafty shops/ classes in the area.  Is there some sort of community college that offers any classes that you know of?  I'm interested in silversmithing/ leatherwork/ etc.

Also, where can I go for craft supplies?

Help!

3  UNITED STATES / Hawaii / Looking for some neat retail shops on Maui and Oahu! on: January 25, 2007 12:34:00 AM
Hi!
I just quit my day job and am focusing 100% of my efforts on marketing my jewelry business.  I've been looking for consignment shops on the web and would like to also sell my stuff wholesale to some retail boutiques.

I'm going to visit my Mom on Oahu next week and I'll be bringing some of my line with me to show if I can find some cool shops.

Does anyone know of any funky/ hip/ indie type shops on either Maui or Oahu?
Here are some examples of my bracelets:

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / in desperate need of help :( on: August 09, 2005 08:34:07 PM
I have no idea how to build a website and to make things even worse, I don't have the money to pay someone to design it. I think I bit off more than I could chew. I started it and figured I could just fumble my way through, but I'm totally lost.

I'm registered with Dreamhost. Everytime I go to my switchboard, I feel like I'm reading a different language.
Here is my site (if you could call it that)...

Do any of you have any suggestions?
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Want to make a LUCKY bag... help! on: July 09, 2005 09:45:27 PM
I have this bag (except I have it in dark red courduroy).  My boyfriend bought it for me almost 2 years ago and I LOVE IT.  I want to make another bag but with different fabric and I'm not so good at making patterns.  I was hoping you crafty people could give me some pointers.
Here's the bag...

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Another Crochet Book... Call for Submissions on: May 23, 2005 04:17:34 PM
I checked with Leah and she said it was ok to post this message

Some of you might know about Debbie Stoller's plan to publish her next Stich N Bitch book on the subject of crochet (ok, who am I kidding you ALL know about her book) Grin! There were a ton of people who submitted ideas for the book and obviously only a few (approximately 40) designs were chosen.  I know that there is only so much room in one book for all of the amazing designs that you lovelies have created.  I couldnt bare to see some of them overlooked just because of lack of space.  I cant wait for Stollers book to come out, and you bet Ill be one of the first in line to make that purchase, but I think theres room for MORE!

I have a concept for my own crochet book.
I have a publisher.
I just need submissions.

If any of you are interested, please email me at ddownward@hotmail.com.  If you wouldnt mind putting Hooked on the subject line, it would really help me to identify the submissions.  The deadline is July 1st.  Please include the following information:

* A photo of your creation
* A descripton of the item
* Pattern
* Full name
* Email address
* Daytime and evening phone numbers
* Mailing address

Email me with any questions that you might have.
Thank you!!!!

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / silversmithing vs. metal casting on: January 18, 2005 10:19:26 PM
I just got the community college catalog for winter session and there is a silversmithing class and a metal casting class.  the catalog wasn't very descriptive.  i was hoping someone could tell me the difference, or which one i should take or which one would be more useful.

thanks!
