1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Revision break = summer dress on: May 12, 2008 12:13:39 PM
So, I'm studying for exams at the moment and I had banned myself from sewing until after they ended to stop the distraction...but then I realised that I had nothing to do in my breaks...
Today I bought some shirring thread and decided to give it a try, having thought it must be difficult in the past.
This dress took me about an hour and I love it Cheesy
I'm trying to find something to add to it, as it's a bit boring at the mo...I'm thinking about some ric-rac perhaps? Any ideas would be fabulous Cheesy
As always, no pattern...
(Sorry about the terrible photos, just wanted to get some quickly...)

Comments? Constructive criticism?

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My I-can't-eat-until-prom dress. UPDATE 11TH MAY-NEW PICTURES! on: April 27, 2008 12:12:54 AM
My prom dress is finished Smiley I was a bit worried, as it was still not started last weekend and prom's in two weeks... So last Sunday I made the whole of my dress in just a couple of hours. The lace, on the other hand, took about 5 hours during the rest of the week...it's all hand-sewn on.
As ever, no pattern, all my own design.
It's fitted completely, hence why I can't eat until prom Tongue

There's some funky creasing going on in those pictures, around the waist. It's not usually like that, I don't think I'd pulled it down properly...

What do you guys think?

UPDATE
Prom was on Friday and it was amazing!
Here's both the dresses I made, I'm on the left and my best friend on the right.

For my friend's dress: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=236921.msg2597830#msg2597830

I'm proud of my zip, and of the matching up of lace on either side of the zip Smiley

And a final picture, I think it shows the lace nicely. Oh, and I just lovvvvve this picture!

Thanks for all of the amazing comments that you guys have given me, I really appreciate it Smiley
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My high waisted skirt on: April 01, 2008 03:22:44 AM
After seeing everyone else's high waisted skirts, I just had to try this...
So using the tute here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=107286.0 I made my own high waisted skirt.

I changed it a bit to give it box pleats, and I used this amazing pale green waffle.

Sorry about the blurry picture...
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Prom dress! UPDATE 8TH JUNE! on: March 30, 2008 01:28:37 PM
I finished my best friend's dress for prom! Our prom (cruise on the Thames) is less formal, so it's cocktail length. Floral cotton, powder blue ribbon sash, sweetheart neckline, two layers of tulle...

(isn't my label pretty?!)

No action shots atm, but I'll get some at prom on the 9th May.
Comments??

Aah! Sorry, I totally forgot about action shots!
Here we are...

(I'm on the left and my best friend's on the right, I made both dresses.)

bodices.

there wasn't much space for a full length photo..

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Purple dress (img heavy) on: January 22, 2008 10:27:38 AM
Finally, my camera's back from being fixed, so here's what I made the other week. I sketched it while watching project runway, and then made it. Didn't use a pattern, I never do.
Made out of purple cotton, with a full-ish skirt, lined with grey/silver taffeta. There's this fuschia velvet ribbon down the sides of the zip, hand sewed =] And these little tucks on the bust. I adore the details.

Picture time...

Haha, ignore the stupid face! See the taffeta there??

Brace face! Velvet ribbon. And hole in my tights =[

My cat wanted its photo taken.

Hole in my tights is so obvious... Velvet ribbon again. And see the darts? First time =]

Tucks in the bust Smiley

And just for fun...

I was going to put straps on it, but decided not to. Should I? Constructive criticism?
btw, im only 15 =]
7  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / punching new buckle holes? on: January 03, 2008 05:58:38 AM
I don't really know if that's the right term for it, but I just got some gorgeous shoes in the post-Christmas sales. They fit my feet perfectly, but my ankles are thinner than they should be to be in proportion with the length of my foot...
that doesn't make sense at all...

basically, they have an ankle strap and a strap across the front of the foot. The front strap fits perfectly, but the ankle strap is a bit too loose. It has a buckle, so I want to put in another hole for the buckle.
They're 100% leather, with a patent finish, any ideas how I'd do this?
Thanks!
8  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / I'm obviously not very observant on: December 19, 2007 12:03:16 PM
I've never found this part of the forum!
I've been a member here since October, and I absolutely adore it =]

I'm Imogen, 15 and live in London, England. I adore fashion and I've recently started making my own clothes =]

I don't really know what else to say...PM me or something to get to know me, I'd love to make some craftster friends!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Red gingham ribbon =D [Slightly image plump] on: December 17, 2007 02:24:42 PM
For my best friend's christmas present I bought a plain navy t-shirt for 5 (about $10) from H&M.
And then I put red gingham ribbon around the neck and down the middle and put a few buttons on. I love it...don't want to give it to her!

The ribbon down the middle's a bit wonky, but it's fine when it's on.

Buttons. (I lovelovelove these buttons)

I had to put some pleats around the neckline, to keep it smooth to the neckline of the top.

On me =] Horrible picture, blame my lazy sister who wouldn't stand up to take the photo, hence the angle.

What do you think?
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Cute cute cute felt bracelet (and packaging =D) on: December 10, 2007 02:16:30 PM
This christmas is craft time for me, and I'm making most of my presents.
I made this bracelet this weekend.

And then I got rather over-excited with packaging =]

The bracelet's inside, nestled in tissue paper.
(The thing on the box is just a nametape thing saying Spector)

Wrapped box. This seems to be my new thing...wrappping with newspaper.
