1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Recipe Swap - Freezer/Crock-Pot Cooking on: September 22, 2012 01:29:28 PM
I was curious if there would be any interest in a recipe swap specializing in freezer and/or crock-pot cooking.  I'm completely taken by this idea of having a prep day and ending with a week's to a month's worth of dinners that you can then just toss in the oven or crock-pot.

I've participated in a couple of recipe swaps before and they were great fun!  I'd even be willing to give organizing a go for something like this, assuming of course there isn't already a discussion going that I missing in my quick search of the board.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help! Rescueing my stash from exploded soda on: August 15, 2012 03:49:57 PM
Once upon a time I head a couple of cans of coke in my yarn stash bin, fully content on consuming them.  (Yes, I have to hid food from my family or else I only get 2 cookies out of the 4 dozen cookies I've baked.)  Today I discovered that one has ruptured and slowly leaked.  Only about a 5th of the bin was affected, most of it acrylic.  But a few precious all wool skeins were hit and I'm completely heart broken.  I'm not worried about hand rinsing the acrylic and setting it to dry.  The wool though I'm terrified I'm just going to felt into a cola stained knot.  Any suggestions oh wiser knitters?  Can I save my yarn?
3  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Louet S10 Broken Part Identification, Help please! on: August 06, 2012 05:32:31 PM
This weekend I acquired a well loved Louet S10.

Its about 25yrs old and over all looks to be in good order.  I should note at this point that I've never used or owned a spinning wheel.  All my spinning has been with a drop spindle before my toddler discovered my stash of roving.  That being said according to Google I have a very good new best friend.

So far I can identify only one broken part.  It looks like the footman to treadle connector, but of course knowing essentially nothing about spinning wheels I was hoping one of you kind and better informed craftsters could confirm that for me before I start ordering pieces.  And I gladly welcome another other bits of advise you might have to offer!!
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Mona the bear on: February 11, 2012 11:57:52 AM
I up-cycled a pair of brown corduroy pants and blue cord skirt to make this bear for my son for xmas.  The pattern is "Mona" from a book whose title escapes me at the moment...

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Happy from Fairy Tail on: February 11, 2012 11:47:33 AM
Happy is a flying blue cat from an anime called Fairy Tail which my husband and I watch together.
He's made of terry cloth, fleece and felt from my stash using the grey cat pattern from a book called "Doudous tout doux : Apprendre crer des doudous avec Aranzi Aronzo."

6  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Colourful Juggling Cats on: February 11, 2012 11:40:09 AM
I crocheted these while pregnant for my son to make a mobile for his crib and never got around to hanging them.  My son still plays with them, now that he knows not to try and chew the buttons off  Smiley

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Fall Seed Stitch Jacket & Rainy Day Hat on: February 11, 2012 11:35:45 AM
Knit these up for my toddler months ago but misplaced them (in the closet of all places) before I could get pics.

Pantons Decor yarn.

The hat was knit one rainy afternoon last fall.  The jacket over a few months, so much seed stitch!  My seams leave something to desire but otherwise I'm pleased with it.  Lined it with some blue flannelette so it will be nice and cozy for the fall.  I put it on my son for the photo and he didn't want to take it off!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Trio of Earflap Hats on: February 11, 2012 11:30:34 AM
Great stash busting project! I knit 3 total. My gauge was off on the first making it too small for me and just too big for my toddler this year.
Cascade 220 wool on 4mm then 5mm needles.

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Aeolain Shawl - problem with edge set up chart on: November 01, 2011 07:01:10 PM
Long story short I'm knitting the Aeolian shawl as my first major lace project (yeah, I'm a sucker for punishment).

http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring09/KSPATTaeolian.php

So far, things have been moving along quite well.  But for 2 days now I've been stuck on rows 23-25 of the edge set up chart.  Specifically the stitches on either side of the repeat.  I feel like there is a decrease missing but I don't see anyone else having this problem.  On the right side of the repeat ln21 is 70, 4k, ssk, yo for 6sts before moving into the main repeat.  Line 23 goes yo, k6, yo for 8 sts.  Then line 25 goes yo, k7, yo for 10 sts.  But on both of the these lines with out a decrease I have an extra sts after on my needle after the 2nd yo.  Does that extra sts jump the marker to be taken up in S2KP (double centered decrease)?
10  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Mouse, the size of a mouse on: October 24, 2011 04:29:31 PM
I made this little guy for my partner in the Dresden Files swap.

Mouse in a very large dog in the books with a big shaggy mane.
Honestly I'm surprised he came out so nice since this was my first figure in polymer clay.
