52  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Fairy Tale Swap on: February 26, 2014 08:58:47 AM

I was thinking of a swap that would be based on Fairy Tales but not so much Disney. I like Disney but I wanted something a little more whimsical, or classic, or Grimm's type. I was thinking that we could list our three favorite Fairy Tales and our partner could do a medium and two smalls based on whichever they chose.
What do you guys think? Would you be interested? Let me know!
53  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Lila and the Chicken on: February 05, 2014 08:46:45 AM
I am participating in the Winter Nerd Battles
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=429436.0#axzz2sSxgsNvA
and it is SO much fun. We get challenges each month and try to make projects fit each one. In January we had a challenge called "Put a bird on it" and our project had to contain a bird of some sort or something bird related (feathers, eggs, ect). It is up to you to interpret it as you will.
I am terrified of three things, heights, my Dad's driving and birds. Just thinking of this challenge sent a shiver up my spine! I tried to think of a nonthreatening bird but since those are only urban legends I went for a less threatening bird. Or at least I tried too. I have been informed that chickens are quite vicious actually. Who knew? Not me because I am not getting near them!

Here was my offering. I call her Lila and the Chicken. My husband says it's a rooster. LOL! Again, not getting close enough to check.

Hope you like her. I think later on I may try to do something else with the background. Smooth it out or something. Not sure.  Tongue
 Thanks for looking!
54  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Valentine's Day Heart Bags on: February 03, 2014 05:53:58 PM
These were so cute and simple I thought I would share them on here. It took no time at all and I was able to use all stash fabrics!  Cheesy
My husband's nick name is Cupcake and I found some not too girly fabric that said Cupcakery on it a while ago and finally got to use it! I am going to fill them with Hershey's Kisses.  Kiss

I made one for my husband (as mentioned above), step-son, Mom, Dad, and sister.
Hope everyone has a fantastic Valentine's Day!!!!
55  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Brown Eyed Girl on: January 21, 2014 07:11:44 AM
I am participating in the Winter Nerd Battles and they are a ton of fun. If you haven't heard of them check out the link below. You can start whenever.

The goal is to get as many badges as you can by fulfilling the prompts for each month. I love it because it pushes me out of my comfort zone to try new things sometimes and also motivates me to work on things.
One of the challenges was to do something based on your own personal theme song. Bunny1kenobi was kind enough to help me brain storm and she came up with "Brown Eyed Girl" (I prefer the Lagwagon version), since I am in fact Brown Eyed.
Here is what I came up with.

I just happen to love drawing bunnies so a bunny got included.
Done in Copics, of course.  Tongue
 Thanks for looking!
56  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / A home for Alice on: December 30, 2013 07:27:04 PM

One of the big complaints that my husband has with me crafting is that I give most of my art away. I never make anything for our house. Anyone who draws knows we only see the flaws in the art we make.  Undecided We talked and found a theme I was willing to do and he was willing to put up with  Wink Fairy Tales! For my first one I did Alice from Alice in Wonderland.

I used the sepia outline again on most of it but did warm gray for the rabbit and green for the hat. Loving the use of different colors for the outline! And yes, these are Copic markers again. My favorite medium.
Hubby insisted on blue eyes so she got 'em. I know I am going to do four of these for my own house. One will be Red Riding Hood cas I am obsessed with her but I haven't decided on the other two... feel free to give me ideas!
 Thanks for checking it out!
57  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Nature Girl on: December 14, 2013 08:09:15 AM

I worked on this for the IYP swap and my partner just got it so I can post up.  Smiley  She gave me a couple themes and forest animals was one of them. I knew I wanted to try that one. I wanted the girl to be younger and less serious than I normally do and it was my first time drawing any of these animals. I tried drawing a cat earlier this year and failed miserably so I wasn't sure how they would turn out. I like the bunny best. I have a soft spot for them anyways. They are just SO darned cute!

This was done in Copic markers. My hubby surprised me with a couple new sets. And I tried using sepia outlining instead of black. I love the sepia! I think it made a ton of difference. Now I want to try the gray, blue, green, wine. I am just so curious on how they would turn out.
Thanks for checking it out! I have two more drawings I need to get done before Christmas so I have to get started working on them..... Shocked
58  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Buddha for the Holidays! on: December 13, 2013 07:49:55 AM
I drew my (future) SIL's name for Christmas this year and I was so excited. She loves Buddha's and I had already purchased her this fabric just in case I got her. I have been looking for something like this for a while.
She likes bigger bags so I used Emmaline Bag pattern. It's approx. 15" wide, 9" tall, and about a 4" bottom so it can hold a lot. This was my first time doing an intermediate pattern. It is far from perfect but I think it turned out nice. The bottom has a plactic base that you made a pillow type opening for and then put the interior over. I was unsure at first because I have never done anything like that but it worked!

It also has two interior pockets. One with a zipper.

and one without done in the exterior fabric for a little pop.

Thanks for looking. I plan to use this as her wrapping and add all her goodies inside. I am so excited to give it to her. I hope she likes it!
Oh, and I plan to make another one for my sister's birthday in Apri, in a different fabric of coursel. I think that one will turn out a little better since I am more familiar with the pattern.
59  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / These foxes say nothing on: December 11, 2013 12:17:12 PM
We moved into a new home a couple months ago and I wanted to put some art work up that was no so obviously my stuff. I decided to try some abstract since I normally draw girls.
I picked two foxes playing in the snow. It will be a seasonal thing to put up.
The background was done in metallic paints and richer, warm tones.

then I painted over it all with white, cream, black and a touch of blue. I originally wanted this to be more textured but it was my first time doing it and sort of chickened out. Here is a close up of the crouching fox.
60  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Dr. Who - Matt Smith ATC on: November 27, 2013 10:30:51 AM
I recently rejoined the ATC swap after a long hiatus. One of the first ATC's I did was for Whovarian Geekery. Matt Smith is pretty much the only Dr. I have watched so by default he is my favorite.  Tongue

The colors turned out a bit bright in my picture. It's more muted in the original. Oh, and it was done in Copic markers like most of my ATC's.
 Thanks for looking!
