51  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Monsterous Attempt at Embellishing on: October 03, 2012 12:50:23 PM
One of my biggest problems with my projects is embellishing. I just can't do it. It doesn't come natural and it likes to make a fool out of me every chance it gets. I will draw up a cute monster or twisting mermaid and then that's it.  Tongue  I want to add more dimension to my work. I have it set as one of my little goals to work on my embellishing skills. Currently they are at a "2" I would like to bring them up to a "4". LOL! I have a real issue with creativity. I have all these crazy amazing ideas in the store and I go blank and loose all my nerve once my supplies are set out in front of me.
Here is my second attempt at cards. I made these for Kwality570 for the monster swap.

Here they all are together. I drew & colored the monsters with markers.

He may not look like a monster but he is actually a baby Kraken.  Wink

I attempted stamping for the lettering because my handwriting is horrible!

This was my favorite but it is very plain.

My husband liked this one best.

Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated! And thanks for checking them out!
52  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / nail polish purse on: October 03, 2012 08:31:36 AM
I haven't posted on this board in a long time. We moved and now my craft room is so tiny it's almost impossible to sew in. I can't have my ironing board up and the chair to my sewing table out at the same time kind of tiny.  Undecided
But a couple months ago I did manage to get this purse done for my BIL's girlfriend. She does nails and loves cutesy stuff so I thought this fabric was perfect for her.

I am planning to make one with peacock feathered fabric soon for the other BIL's girlfriend. I just need to clean up some in the room first. Eek! But seeing this really makes me want to sew again so maybe that will motivate me!
 Thanks for looking!

54  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Harry Potter Tryptic + Snape! on: July 18, 2012 05:10:53 PM
jillbeans and I did a private swap for four cards. I got the awesome Star Wars ones she posted (love Jabba!) and she got these from me. Harry Potter, Hermione, and Ron all fit together. Snape is by himself (isn't he always?). They got lost in the mail for a few days and I about freaked out thinking I would have to do them all again. But they magically made their way to jillybeans mailbox!

Here they are together with Hogwarts behind them.

 Harry Potter

 Hermione

Ron, he was one of my favorites!

And Snape. He is my other favorite.
Here is Snape again to show the shimmer in the backgrounds. They were all shimmery. I got carried away! LOL!

It was the good shimmer that doesn't come off on you.  Wink
 Thanks for checking them out!!!!

55  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / New Style for June! on: July 06, 2012 06:38:04 PM
For June I wanted to try out a new style and not do my typical pin-up girl type ATC's that I have been doing for a while. They are fun, I am sure I will do more. I just wanted to switch it up some and try something new. I found and became enthralled with distressing ink.  Tongue
PS. I did the Movie Monster set right after Wednesday Addams.
Here is what I did for the June ATC swap.

I love Being Human BBC and when I saw spikefan had this theme I knew had to do it. Tom is such an adorable character! In case you don't watch (which you should) Tom is a werewolf and hunts vampires with a stake. Hence his name on a stake.

Negaduck, the doppelganger of Darkwing Duck. I owed bunny1kenobi this one for a while.

For wandering men of grief. I wanted a ghost sort of effect on him. Like he is fading in his grief. Still out on whether I like it or not...

Wednesday Addams. I liked how she turned out.  Smiley

I was dying just to regular draw by now. Ha! This is called "F U R2".

jillybeans has the theme "objects with legs". While I was in my need to draw phase a picked her and kept thinking of stories for them. This is C.C. (Compogno Clean) she is determined to escape the kitchen and the dish towel keeps telling her it will never happen. We will see!

And this is Debbie doing a few drunk dials, old skool. Notice the distressing ink. LOL!
For a fantasy landscape I tried to use distressing ink for the background (I haven't given up on this idea yet. I just need to work on it a bit more). I cut the road and buildings out. Not my favorite but it wasn't instantly recognisable as mine (at least I don't think so?) and that was one of my goals.

Back to the new style I was trying out this month. I was playing around with different backgrounds and cutting them out to give them some extra depth. Edward from Twilight. My husband laughed at me! Ha!

I think Jasper came out better. You can tell he is raised up from the background in this picture. I tried to make the background look like splattered and smeared blood. Again, the husband told me it was a fail but the card was good.  Roll Eyes

I had to use deathbeforedishes pictures for these. If I can find mine I will switch them out. This is my polar owl. For some reason I thought he looked like a penguin so I added penguins in the background so you could tell the difference. I got fancy with BLUE destressing ink here.

and I work for an Italian company so I had to do an Italian one. No idea why he looks so mean. No idea what so ever. Lalalala.  Wink
Thanks for checking them out! I am hoping to work on my backgrounds more in the next couple months. Hopefully they will improve!
56  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / "Work Your Theme" ATC Swap Round 2 SU Closed - send by 8/21/12 on: June 27, 2012 04:23:07 PM
Work Your Theme ATC Swap Round 2

Sign ups 06/27 - 07/21
Send outs 08/21

Hey Everyone! This swap is for those of us ATC-ers with a theme or who want to start a theme! All themes are welcome from spelling out names, countdowns, specific colors, ABCs (Just think, you can finally get that last letter of the alphabet you have been eagerly waiting for someone to claim!), or anything else you can dream up!
You can finish up a theme or start a new one, like me.

We will aim for groups of 4 so you will be creating and sending 3 ATCs each. If you are a bit more adventurous or need more cards sign up for multiple groups!

Please note that this will be a challenging swap. Some of the themes submitted by each member may include the last few remaining cards to complete the theme, such as an X in an ABC theme. In other words, cards that no one else wanted to claim during past swaps! I will make groups and let you claim within the groups unless there is a specific request and I will try to assign those before the claiming.

57  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Sharpie Bike!! Awesome hubby let me have fun! on: June 27, 2012 03:04:13 PM

I am not really sure were to put this so I am guessing Miscellaneous will cover it.  Wink
I got a phone call at work a couple Fridays ago from my husband asking me to Sharpie his bike. Eek! Sounded fun and nerve wracking all at once. I was under the impression that he just wanted a whole bunch of squiggles and grafitti and that we would both be doing it. Wrong. After we got all the Sharpie's he started asking me to actually DRAW on it. Completely different. Oh, and needed it ready by the morning!
Here is a picture of the bike before, almost. Just regular silver. but I had already done his car club logo on it. We forgot about before pics until it was almost too late.

Here is the "A" on the table. The pieces were all wonky in shape. Very weird to work with...

This is the front. My Hubby did the writing. The one thing I refused to do was write on it. My handwriting is beyond horrible. It was funny to watch him write on it because he kept saying not to be nervous and I was being silly. He wrote out the CBR about twenty times before writing it on the bike, then declared he ruined the entire thing. LOL! He did fine.  Wink

I added a sort of matching girl on the tank...

After I did her I may have cried a little. They are not my best work and the thought of people seeing them made me really upset. That and I was super tired at this point. Now I am more at peace with the whole thing. Notice the glove on one hand only. Ha! It's so hard to just draw and not lay down a sketch before hand!

The next day he got up bright and early and went to the how. I stayed in bed recovering. He brought home this and gave it to me for my help. The pic is really bad as I had just woken up and was trying to paint a swap project in my lap. Notice the Sharpie pack still in my lap. LOL!

58  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Work Your Theme ATC Swap Round 2? on: June 20, 2012 12:14:10 PM
I was thinking of starting up a round 2 of the Work Your Theme ATC Swap. Everyone seems to be missing one or two cards to complete a set or you could start a whole new set, that's what I am going to do.  Wink
You could finally get that letter Z to complete your alphabet! LOL!
Anyone interested in another round? I was thinking of posting sign ups within a week or two and having it start around the 23rd of July.
 What does everyone think?

59  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Classic Movie Monster ATCs with 2 Bride of Frankensteins added! on: June 10, 2012 11:36:47 AM
My dear Hubster went away for the weekend and I decided to have a Craft-a-polooza. I finished all my ATC's for the swap and worked on a project for another swap I am in. While I was waiting for things to dry I decided to do a little side project for myself. I have had this idea for a while and just needed the time to do it. These were done with Copic markers on Illustration board.
So here it is. My Classic Movie Monster ATC set!!!!   Grin

I wanted to do a gray tone for the "flesh" and line drawing for the clothing. Then I wanted to do a plain sort of rainbow background.  I was super happy with how they turned out! Here they are individually.

Frank was my first one. I might add his bride next time I get some "me" time.

 The Invisible Man

 The Wolf Man

The Creature from the Black Lagoon. This one was a little weird cas he didn't have "clothes" so I just faded down so it would match the set of the others. The purple isn't as dark as it looks in this picture.

The Phantom of the Opera ended up being my favorite. I love his expression!

 The Prince of Darkness, Dracula!

And the Mummy! I tried to make his background "gold" to go along with the Egypt theme but it turned out more orangey.
These were all of the classic black and white movie monsters I could think of besides the Blob but I didn't think that one would turn out to well.  Tongue Let me know what you think or if you know one that I missed.
 Thanks for looking!

I found some free time to finish up the set. I added the Bride of Frankenstein!

Here is one I sent out for a swap a couple months ago too. I think I am going to remake this version of her for my own collection too.
60  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Geisha Cards on: June 05, 2012 01:38:48 PM
I made these cards for the MaF swap because my partner likes Japanese culture and imagery. I ended up having to buy a bunch of cards to get the shimmer "gold" background but I think the end result was pretty. I made a couple extra sets (I have two more sets to make) to send out to friends and family that still use the snail mail.
Here are the two cards together...

 The red one...

 and the pink one...

and just because - one with the envelope.

Hope you like them. They were my first cards. I am terrible at embellishing so I am starting slow. I bought some tiny brads to put on the pink one but chickened out.  Undecided  Maybe next time. I am hoping to be able to make my sister a bunch of random cards for Christmas so this will be the start of her set!
 Thanks for looking!
