1851  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: IYP22 Crafting with the Glitz GALLERY! on: March 05, 2013 09:38:52 AM
I am so far behind on commenting! Things just shot up here on the board!
Cackle - What a stunning piece! I love the overall feel of it. My favorite part is the hand holding the magnifying glass.
Chughes - That treaty is awesome and looks so authentic! I adore thise hairsticks and the shoes - WOW!!! Maybe I didn't put enough exclamation points to express it...!!!!!!
Quaggy - I love the colors of the soft checkers, neat idea! The caddy and thread catcher are such thoughtful and useful ideas. Great job.
Maxxev - That plate looks professionally done and the kintting needles are very pretty.
Pineappleplaid - Wet bag What an idea! I had never heard of one. And I like the plastic bag holder. Reminds me that I need one!
Patty-o-furniture - Clock, um - Wow! Love the bracelet. The cabinet is amazing. My favorite part is the tiny scrolls on th bottom shelf.
Averia - The owl stitching is amazing but I am in love with that tiny dragonfly! It completely blows me away, LOVE it.
Jo-Mama - You have skills! I think the statue of liberty one is my favorite. Very cute!

I have used the super thick interfacing for a purse bottom once and it did great keeping the shape. I have been worried about using the cardboard or plastic, feels too much like something I could mess up quickly.

Wendiek - that is too funny! Dude!!! I would LOVE to hear Gozer used in a conversation. Hahaha!
It's my cats name. He is named for Ghostbusters.  Wink

Yay! I'm in! Thanks so much for letting me in with a smaller swap. I would have hated to miss this! Can't wait to get working.

I wouldn't mind seeing some zippered pouches. I used to make them all the time and it's neat to see all the different ways people make them!

So, In order to make the Sunburst Sling I am going to have to coordinate a LOT of fabric, so in the meantime I decided to start a more simple purse for my sister of her birthday in April. Ever since I did the "make a purse and fill it" swap I love the idea for gift giving! My sister is currently on a big Edgar Allen Poe kick. I got her a vinyl Poe figure and some other random things. I plan to put what I can in the purse. I ordered some of the Nevermore fabric so I am using that.
Here is the pattern I will be using:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/60693158/versatile-handbag-pdf-sewing-pattern?
And here is a shot of the pieces I cut for the front and back of the bag. My sister current favorite things are Poe, ravens, and bats so I am trying to focus in on that part of the fabric.

Front, I wanted to get the "Nevermore" on the purse.

 Back.

And I want to patch this raven on the inside pocket.
I am not sure what maple leaves or spells have to do with Poe. I am admittedly not a huge fan. I have a black cat and that story still makes me mad! LOL!
I plan to cut out the gusset (a black and dark grey bubbly fabric) and put on the interfacing tonight/tomorrow. I will keep you posted!

Oooh! Love that fabric for the Blossom bag Wendiek!

I went a searching for the fabric I wanted to use today and realized I need to do some cleaning in my craft room! I can't find it.  Angry  Tonight is laundry and tomorrow will be a recon mission to find that fabric!

I got shelves to put them on but they out grew that. I am buying more shelves this weekend because I started sewing again and they are all over my sewing table.
