I need advice- Atter 3 days of sanding, scraping, and pounding, I've got my floor to "beauty base zero" The problem is, it's very damaged from the linoleum. I'm thinking about staining the whole floor, but then painting a large white diamond pattern print over the whole thing. Does anyone have any opinion on this? I'm nervous about taking a risk and having it not pay off (since I took a risk with the wall color and don't love it). My other options are- just staining the floor, painting the floor, painting and adding a stencil to the floor, or just coating the floor in polyurethane and adding an area rug. I know it's hard to weigh in without seeing it, but if you were faced with a similar dilemma what would you do?
Keep in mind this is a starter home and I intend on renting it in a few years.

This may be crazy extra work but I saw on a home improvement type show. They painted the floor (I think they use light blue) and then lightly sanded that to show the grain and stuff below and polyurethaned over it all. That way once the paint got scratched it was still a uniformed look. It was kind of rustic but really cool.
