181  Monster Wall Clock in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: April 11, 2013 12:09:15 PM
I guess this is where I would post this...

I made this wall clock for a swap I was in about a month ago and realized I hadn't posted it up on any boards yet. I thought it was a cute idea and want to make another one for my iown wall.
I just used a wooden circle and drilled a hole in it to put the clock parts. The ears are made from cardboard that I sealed the corrugated part of. They were originally suppose to be horns but we all know how crafts can decide to be something different on us.  Tongue  I was pleased with how easy and fun he was to make.
I thought he turned out cute, if a little sad looking.

 and here is another angle...

The top picture is truer to the actual colors.

 Thanks for looking!

Okay, here is some proof that I am still here and crafting-a-long. LOL! I wish I was as fast a sewer as the rest of you! Alas I am SO S-L-O-W.
I finished up the front and back of the purse and added trim for the first time. I have never attempted trim before so this was a bit of a stresser. It is wonky in places to put it nicely but this is my first purse for myself (I have done wristlets but nothing else for me) and I am okay with it. It's a learning experience.

Please ignore the dirty looking ironing board.  Embarrassed
As you can see the front turned out WAY bigger than it was suppose too. I don't think I made the seam allowances big enough on the patched pieces. Though I didn't think I was THAT far off.

I am going to place the liner piece over it and trim it slightly bigger than that. Then there is more trim around it. Hopefully this trim will be smoother.

And thanks to everyone for keeping me motivated and inspired! I know without this board the fabric would have lived out it's life in a bag with the pattern untouched forever.

JessKelly - can't wait to see your clutches! I do the same thing, I get excited, finish the focus of the purse, and then really want to move on to another project. The lining and details can be so boring sometimes. I just want to see what it will look like! Ha!

Side shot of the awesome hat.

And an extra shot cas they are so cool!

This is a bad shot and I will take another when the light gets better tomorrow. It's the Stay Puft hat from Ghostbusters!!!! She ever sewed Stay Puft on it!!!!!
,
An awesome pouch with a Monster High button! And Two MH key fobs. I love that ribbon! Did you print that on there yourself?

She also included some adorable earrings! And a Frankie Keychain!

Last but not least her daughter sent me some awesome ATC's! I collect ATCs and Spikefan and I have been in the swap together in the past. These are precious!

That chevron bag is adorable. Something so retro yet now about it. What colors are you going to do it in?

I read all the instruction for the Sunburst Sling purse and it is very well written. So far I have cut out almost all of the pieces. I thought I had them all cut out but realized I didn't when I started ironing on the interfacing (not the patterns fault, all mine). Lots and Lots of pieces!
I found two more fabrics that coordinated at another store. Here is how I set them up.

No more time today to cut so it will have to wait a bit but I am excited. I think it will be very cute.

All the fabrics go on one bag. I think I am going to head over to another fabric store today and see if I can find one more fabric. I want a polka dot or something like that I think. The purse is a sort of patchwork-ish bag. Here is a pic..

Lots of fabrics and patterns. I really have another set of fabrics in mind but I wanted to see how this was going to turn out. It's for an intermediate sewer and I am (in my mind) a beginner. If this was a perfect world I would have time to make one of these for my sister too. I have so many purses I want to make!!!! LOL!

I feel like I made my first purse really fast and then everything just sort of died off as far as my sewing. I really want to get the Sunburst Sling purse done, or at least started. I saw some fabric on Etsy that I am not obsessed with for this pattern but it would be kind of expensive so I wanted to do a trial run with some fun fabrics to test it all out. At the fabric store today I found some cute Halloween fabrics on sale and snatched them up. The solid color is actually a rich purple but the color came out more blue with my camera.
And a quick confession, I am technically color blind so coordinating fabrics can be a bit rough for me. Especially this many! I can see all colors but each of my eyes sees a color differently. The lady at the fabric store assured me these do in fact coordinate (my Mom usually double checks me).
My kitty picked his favorite one too.  Roll Eyes

I plan to try to have it cut out this weekend but it will be a slow process. Not sure when I will get time to actually add the  interfacing or sew. Bare with me.

187  This Bike is EYEING you in Completed Projects by gozer on: March 10, 2013 11:58:05 AM
My husband is completely obsessed with riding his motorcycle. Yesterday he had his first track day and it was quite the event for us. He went with one of his friends, Jack. While they were preparing their bikes Jack mentioned that he thought eyeballs were the headlights used to be would be funny. My husband immediately volunteered me.  Wink
To be honest, I can't remember what kind of bike Jack rides. But here are some pics of what I did. I thought it turned out pretty nifty.

These pics are the right way on my computer, I have no idea why they are coming out sideways....

and here is a pic of both Jack and my husband, Steve's bike. Now they want me to put eyes on Steve's too. We will see...

my gosh! There have been so many awesome packages since I was on here last!
here is one more. I got from the ever talented Kwality570. You will recognize her signature monsters. I am in LOVE with them! Absolutely adore them. This is the most amazing package ever!
First up, I specifically asked for something to hang on my wall. She did not disappoint! I love the color and style! It's already hanging on my wall.

I also got this cute plaque of one of her monsters saying a quick "Hello"

I put it on my 'book'shelf to keep my bunny company.
She also sent this amazing shadow box. It was really hard to get a picture of, if you have a better picture PLEASE post it up Kwality. Indoors I got the flash glare and outside I got shadows.  Undecided  I know these images don't do it justice. It is so whimsical and fun! I took a shot so you could see the sides too.

She didn't stop there! She included my new best friend!!! and some super cute octopus cat toys!! I have to think of a proper name for my new fellow. He is so fuzzy and cute!

Kwality570 included a cute Thank You note and some beautiful stamps

She didn't stop there. She also included this cool recycled bag. It is so neat because it has a zipper on the top! Also, Love the colors of it. It is shown with another shot of the stamps and adorable octopus toys!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Kwality570! This package blew me away! Absolutely amazing!!!!

189  Edgar Allen Poe Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: March 07, 2013 07:13:56 AM
My sister's birthday is coming up and every year I try to make her a purse. I wasn't able to do it last year due to a case of laziness but this year the Purse Craft-along came around just in time to save me! I will also have to give some credit to the snow storm that kept me home from work yesterday.  Tongue

Here is the purse I made her. She is into Edgar Allen Poe recently. I got the Nevermore fabric and this is what I came up with.
 Front of bag

and the back

inside I added the raven to the pocket because I know she loves ravens. I also used light fabric to make it easier to find things in.

And here is the whole thing so you can see how long the handles are

The gusset is done in the same splotchy black fabric.

I am going to fill it up with a bunch of Poe and bat stuff for her. Not quite sure what spells and maple leaves have to do with Poe but apparently they do (?). I hope she likes it.  Embarrassed
C&C welcome and thanks for checking it out!

me too! I did manage to rip that seam out and sew it back in. Here is the purse I made for my sisters b-day. It's not til the first week of April so I will have to wait to see if she likes it.
Very simple easy pattern. I am slowing dipping my toe back into sewing.
Here is the front of the purse.

and here is the back

the inside with the purse with a shot of the raven on the pocket. I always choose light colors for the inside. I think it makes it easier to find things.

Here is the whole things so you can see how long the handles are. I can't get the picture the turn(?)

Yay! One down!!! I never would have gotten this done without the craft-a-long. I needed the motivation! Thanks everyone!!!
