141  Brown Eyed Girl in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by gozer on: January 21, 2014 07:11:44 AM
I am participating in the Winter Nerd Battles and they are a ton of fun. If you haven't heard of them check out the link below. You can start whenever.
The goal is to get as many badges as you can by fulfilling the prompts for each month. I love it because it pushes me out of my comfort zone to try new things sometimes and also motivates me to work on things.
One of the challenges was to do something based on your own personal theme song. Bunny1kenobi was kind enough to help me brain storm and she came up with "Brown Eyed Girl" (I prefer the Lagwagon version), since I am in fact Brown Eyed.
Here is what I came up with.

I just happen to love drawing bunnies so a bunny got included.
Done in Copics, of course.  Tongue
 Thanks for looking!

wendiek  Ah, Thanks! I love it on Craftster! It's my happy place.  Cheesy
Vincentvanbuck, that painting is fantastic! I love that you did a painting of a picture you took. The angles were really hard and you did an amazing job of it. Where did you hang it?

Battle/Challenge:  January - Theme Song
Team: Wordy
Bonus Points:
Project Name: Brown Eyed Girl
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description:  I have to thank Bunny1kenobi for the idea of the theme song. Actually an ex used to play the Lagwagon version as my song. I, of course, have brown eyes.  Wink I have been on a drawing kick lately so here is my latest rendering. Once again in Copic markers.

Battle/Challenge:  January Battle - Sea!
Team: wordy
Bonus Points:
Project Name: Mermaid Pot Holder
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: Since I had the fabric out and it was pretty much chopped up from the apron I decided to use what was left to make a quick project to show my support for the SEA! I had the heat insulation stuff from a previous pot holder I made for a swap and the 100% cotton batting as well. Everything came from my stash for the last THREE project! Way to go for stash busting and making things I actually needed with it!!! The second picture makes it look uneven but I was actually really excited on how square it was. I think it's the angle of the picture. I was dodging cats.

Battle/Challenge:  January - Mob
Team: Wordy
Bonus Points:
Project Name: Mermaid Apron
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: Last year I was able to lose 25 pounds. I gained back 5 over the holidays but I am determined to lose a total of 20 more. My resolution is to eat better and cook healthier meals. I got this awesome mermaid fabric a while ago but the print was so big I had no idea what I would make with it. Since I am cooking more I am washing dishes more and making a bigger mess in general. I realized I needed an apron and Ah Ha! Mermaid apron!!! My husband likes it too. LOL!
PS. Please don't judge my dirty bedroom. I am too busy crafting to clean.  Tongue

Battle/Challenge:  January - Old School
Team: Wordy
Bonus Points:
Project Name: Pac-Man wristlet
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I remember when Pac-man was all the rage, and his wife too! None of these super graphics and violence. Just a little circle eating his way to save the world!
I really, really needed this. I keep a wristlet in my big purse and whip it out to go inside places. My old one was so worn that the strap broke off on New Year's. For some reason getting in gear this year is extra hard so actually making this was a huge accomplishment for me. I hope this helps jump start me so I can shake the lazies!

I have been busy rotating between being lazy and crafty since Christmas. I should have time to check out what has happened in the gallery since I was last at work tomorrow and comment. Sorry! But here's what I have been doing instead of internet-ing....

Battle/Challenge: December - Marching to your own drum
Team: wordy
Bonus Points: none
Project Name: A Home for Alice
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I never ever keep any of my artwork. I give it all away. You know how it is, all you see are the flaws and it drives you batty! My husband wanted my work up in the house and was getting really aggravated at me so we did a compromise, I would put up art work as long as it was Fairy Tale based. I thought he would back down. He called my bluff. So this is the first in a four piece set I will make for my home. It's totally me because it is a drawing and I love to draw and doodle all the time. It is done in Copic markers, my favorite medium. And it's fairy tale based which I love too.

147  A home for Alice in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by gozer on: December 30, 2013 07:27:04 PM

One of the big complaints that my husband has with me crafting is that I give most of my art away. I never make anything for our house. Anyone who draws knows we only see the flaws in the art we make.  Undecided We talked and found a theme I was willing to do and he was willing to put up with  Wink Fairy Tales! For my first one I did Alice from Alice in Wonderland.
I used the sepia outline again on most of it but did warm gray for the rabbit and green for the hat. Loving the use of different colors for the outline! And yes, these are Copic markers again. My favorite medium.
Hubby insisted on blue eyes so she got 'em. I know I am going to do four of these for my own house. One will be Red Riding Hood cas I am obsessed with her but I haven't decided on the other two... feel free to give me ideas!
 Thanks for checking it out!

148  Nature Girl in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by gozer on: December 14, 2013 08:09:15 AM

I worked on this for the IYP swap and my partner just got it so I can post up.  Smiley  She gave me a couple themes and forest animals was one of them. I knew I wanted to try that one. I wanted the girl to be younger and less serious than I normally do and it was my first time drawing any of these animals. I tried drawing a cat earlier this year and failed miserably so I wasn't sure how they would turn out. I like the bunny best. I have a soft spot for them anyways. They are just SO darned cute!

This was done in Copic markers. My hubby surprised me with a couple new sets. And I tried using sepia outlining instead of black. I love the sepia! I think it made a ton of difference. Now I want to try the gray, blue, green, wine. I am just so curious on how they would turn out.
Thanks for checking it out! I have two more drawings I need to get done before Christmas so I have to get started working on them..... Shocked

149  Buddha for the Holidays! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: December 13, 2013 07:49:55 AM
I drew my (future) SIL's name for Christmas this year and I was so excited. She loves Buddha's and I had already purchased her this fabric just in case I got her. I have been looking for something like this for a while.
She likes bigger bags so I used Emmaline Bag pattern. It's approx. 15" wide, 9" tall, and about a 4" bottom so it can hold a lot. This was my first time doing an intermediate pattern. It is far from perfect but I think it turned out nice. The bottom has a plactic base that you made a pillow type opening for and then put the interior over. I was unsure at first because I have never done anything like that but it worked!

It also has two interior pockets. One with a zipper.

and one without done in the exterior fabric for a little pop.

Thanks for looking. I plan to use this as her wrapping and add all her goodies inside. I am so excited to give it to her. I hope she likes it!
Oh, and I plan to make another one for my sister's birthday in Apri, in a different fabric of coursel. I think that one will turn out a little better since I am more familiar with the pattern.

150  Re: Purse Craftalong-2013 in Craftalongs by gozer on: December 13, 2013 06:28:18 AM
Just finished this up for my (future) SIL last night. She loves Buddah's and I was so excited when I found this fabric. This is a larger purse and it is far from perfect but I am still proud of it. It was my first intermediate pattern. It has a plastic piece in the base and you do this pillow type fold to keep it there and then you put the liner in.  Huh  Turned out though! It has two pockets inside, one with a zipper and one without. I already plan to do another one for my sister for her birthday in April. I figure it would be a little nicer since I am more familiar with the pattern. I am going to give this to my SIL with all her gifts inside, it's sort of the wrapping.

inside pocket #1 (sorry the pic is a bit fuzzy)

 and the focus pocket.
