1  Re: Discussion Thread for Nerd Battles in Craftalongs by gozer on: July 13, 2016 05:41:26 AM
I wanted to thank Alwaysinmyroom for sending me that fabric and some fantastic extras! She really is a dear and such a sweetheart. Thank you again Aimr. That really made my day!!!

I guess the official zentangles thingie does make sense. I tried to zentangle once and it was really frustrating. I had no idea you were supposed to roll a dice (which I really want to do now) and I got all persnickety about what to do in the next opening. I can see the dice making it a lot more fun and relaxing.  Smiley

Is this the same fabric? if it is, then I could be persuaded to go look for it...I take pics of my stash but I am not that great at updating it when I use or give away fabric...my excel schedule says it is a Mary Englebreit fabric and that I have about 1/2 yard...can't promise that I still have it, but I will look when I get home

Oh my gosh! YES!!!! I have my fingers crossed.

And I have to note how clever you are for taking pics of your stash! Shocked  I never thought of that! Genius.

PS. If anyone has any of this particular bee fabric in there stash I will trade, pay, or personal swap you for it. I LOVE this fabric and cant find it anywhere!

Prompt:  Big Time #1
Team: Analog
Medal Event: Fabricology
Bonus Points: Community, Swaptastic, Brain Power
Project Name: Eternal Tote
Project Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=448224.0
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.) I had this wild hair that I was going to learn to freeform sew for this tote. I had the idea and couldnt shake it. It was for a swap with Abbeeroad and I had to do it.
First I decided I needed to hand paint/dye my fabrics. I was making it way more difficult because I had this vision in my head. You can read about it in the Community post.
I watched some YouTube videos and found some instructions in an old Paper, Cloth, Scissors magazine. After I got the dog feed down it wasnt that bad. Just go slow and try to keep the stitches even (who am I kidding that didnt work). At first I was jerking it all around and it was a mess. LOL! I was very nervous on if she would like it or think it was a huge mess. She said she liked it. I thought the style went with the quote, from Perks of being a Wallflower, and in that moment, I swear we were infinite. Free form stitching felt energetic.

5  If You Never Saw The Stars Shadowbox in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: June 28, 2016 10:13:37 AM
Okay, I have no idea where this would go so I am guessing here. Moderator, sorry if you have to move this....

I made this for the Favorite Book Swap. Its one of my favorite quotes from Maggie Stievater and its from the book The Raven Boys (or maybe the second one, Dream Thief  Huh ).
This is one of my all-time favorite quotes. I really wanted to make something out of it. I had the idea and ran with it. I also love that it lights up. Thats one of the things I havent done much of with crafts and I decided it was time to light something up (but not with fire). Fairy lights it is!
I really want to make another one for myself. The quote says, "If you never saw the stars, candles were enough".
Here it is with the lights on.

And lights off. I tried to swirl the wire so it had an interesting, kind of Van Gogh meets Burton feel when it was off.

 Thanks for checking it out.

6  Eternal Free form sewing tote in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: June 28, 2016 07:26:22 AM

For the Favorite Book Swap I had this idea to make a freeform panel for a tote for my partner. I have never attempted to freeform sew before but I was determined. I had this vision of what I wanted to do and couldnt shake it.
The first road block I came across before I even started sewing was the design. I needed a heart on the fabric. I used Inktense pencils and drew one out on white fabric but as you can see on the left, it wasnt really that intense. I let it dry and went back over it. That was the result. So I decided to try a couple more ideas. I didnt want to use acrylic because I didnt want it to be stiff or hard to sew thru. I ended up painting some Tim Holts inks onto it. I let it all dry, heat set it and then hand washed it. It held up pretty good.

I did the same for the strips of fabric minus the Inktense pencils. I just dripped the Holts ink on then uses the reducer on it to blur it all out. Here it is before the reducer. I also used paint pens for the words so they would stand out and be clear. The Quote is from The Perks of Being a Wall Flower and says, and in that moment, I swear we were infinite. Such a great quote!

Im not sure how youre really supposed to freeform sew but I pinned my pieces down and then just started. It was a little jarring at first. No, I dont have the freeform sewing foot. I plan to get one though. I was just so happy to get the dog feed to go up and down that I wasnt really concerned past that point. LOL!

And then I just sketched and wiggled all over it. Below is the first run with the blue. I used four or five different colors of thread.

I was really pleased on how it turned out. Especially for my first one. I think I want to fix the first heart and do something with it too. I loved the organic and energetic outcome.  I also enjoyed trying something new.

Thanks for checking it out.

7  Love and Decay - Parker Brothers teeshirt in Stenciling: Completed Projects by gozer on: June 27, 2016 01:30:00 PM
I have been reading a series for a while now. It's not like a normal series of books. It's a Kindle series that comes out every other week for about four months of the year. The name of the series is Love and Decay. I've been reading it for about four years now and absolutely love them. They are quick, fun novellas that I get to enjoy while sitting in my car at lunch.
In the Favorite Book Swap I got paired with Abbeeroad who also read and enjoyed the series. I think she just finished season 1. The book is about the zombie apocalypse and a girl, Reagan, who end up traveling with a group of brothers with the last name Parker.
I'm using the pic Abbeeroad took since it is better than mine.  Wink

I have to make one for myself next.

8  Re: My Favorite Book Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by gozer on: June 27, 2016 05:45:44 AM
I received the most awesome package from Abbeeroad on Friday. I ended up going out of town so I had to wait until today to post up. Sorry for the delay in showing you guys but you will not be disappointed. I am so pleased with all the items its hard to chose a favorite!
First up is this fantastic tote. She got the hand stamped fabric from EdelC in the STS and it works perfectly for this. I absolutely love it and I used it to pack my overnight back in.  Wink  How's that for perfect timing! Oh! Almost forgot, the feathers represent Ravens from The Raven Boys. A great series I just finished up.

Then I opened this amazing bracelet. I LOVE these bracelets and I love that is says READ. Perfection! And she also sent a cute little bookmark. Abbeeroad knows I collect bookmarks. This one is great. Parts of the arm dangle from either end. LOL! I will use it on my next zombie book (which I read a bunch of so it won't be long).

And last but not least.... This phenomenal hoop! This is my favorite. It is perfect is SO many ways. It's a quote from my favorite character in a series I have been reading for the last four years, Love and Decay. It comes out in episodes once a week. It's so much fun to read that way. It's like TV almost, only better. Vaughn is my favorite. The rose was the cover for the first season.
This Rocks on so many levels! I squealed when I saw it. It sort of shimmers but I couldn't get that to show in the pic. Sorry, we have had nothing but stormy weather for the last two weeks and more this week.

Thank you so much Abbeeroad. This swap was fantastic. I am so glad we partnered together! Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!

9  Halloween Door Hanger in Halloween Decor and Parties by gozer on: June 14, 2016 02:01:49 PM
This may seem random to make in June but I made it for a friends b-day. She had it on her Pinterest Board and I figured I can make that!  Cheesy

I switched it up a little from the Pin and made the spider at the bottom so it looked like they were hanging off his web, at least to me. I used ribbon to secure it and a staple gun to keep it all in place. The ribbon is eyeball Halloween ribbon from my stash.  It's made to hang on a door instead of a wreath.
Thanks for checking it out so far from Halloween!

10  Egon in the Garden in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by gozer on: June 14, 2016 01:55:09 PM
This is a happy little painting of my happy little kitty Egon. That is the expression he always has. He is such a content and happy little man. I made this piece for the Wall Art Swap. I drew him out them outlines him with glue so there was a distinct boarder. Then I painted the background. After it dried I glued swirls on it and painted those for some added texture. The butterfly is some chipboard piece I got a long time ago and found in my stash. The painting is a light brighter in person but I couldn't get a good pic of it.
Thanks for checking it out.  Cheesy
