I completely hear you!!!
I am currently trying to convince my fiance that making our wedding cake is NOT a foolish thing to want to do!!!
(He has seen me work 8 hours straight on a Gordon the Train Cake that turned out GREAT!)


But a wedding cake does not have to be as complicated as a TRAIN to be beautiful!  Your confetti cake idea is simply lovely!  Elegant!  Perfect
The wedding cake I plan on making is this one...


Roll out the fondant, Cover it, whip up some royal icing, Slap on a stencil, and you're done!
Add to the fact that I'm also conscripting help, (considering I also will have a dozen or so DIY's on the go too ), will make this one of the easier tasks.  One of my girlfriends is an amazing baker, so she's baking the cake at her house, and whipping up some buttercream.  I'm coming over with the fondant, royal icing, and stencil, and there you have a relaxing evening!

Trying to convince my fiance is the hard part!  Same as your friends who want to take up a collection!!!    Yes, if I wanted an over the top fun and quirky celebration cake, I'll hire someone, I don't have time.  But for beautiful classic... it's really not that bad!  (But please, continue with the collection... it'll go towards the dress!!! LOL)

Please post pics when it's all said and done!  I'd love to see it!

Hello All!
I have finally found a cake recipie that I can call my own... even though I found it on the side of a Duncan Hines Cake Mix Box!!!  It's on the side of their "Chocolate Fudge Moist Deluxe" Cake Mix...

1 pkg of Duncan Hines Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
2 eggs
1/2 cup butter melted
1/4 cup brown sugar packed
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans, (I didn't add this, didn't have any!)

Preheat oven to 350 F, grease baking sheets, (I use Parchment paper, the stuff rocks)

Place cake mix, eggs, melted butter, brown sugar and vanilla in a large bowl, and stir with spoon until thoroughly blended.  Stir in Chocolate chips and nuts.  Drop by level measuring table spoons onto greased baking sheets.

Bake at 350F for 12 minutes for chewy cookies, [cookies will still be puffed], or 14 minutes for crisp cookies.  (I needed to use 9 minutes to get them perfect.  Maybe my oven's too hot)

Cool 2 minutes on baking sheets.  Remove to cooling racks.

And I've tried other flavors! With *awesome* success!  (The other flavors bake smaller, but just as yummy!)  I took pics of the Marble Cake Mix Cookies:


I also tried Cherry Chip, but I didn't like it as much.  My girlfriend, though, whose favorite cake flavour is cherry chip, really really enjoyed many of them!

This may be a well know recipie, I don't know, but I just *had* to share!!!

I finished a cake for a friend's son that I am particularly proud of, (except for the unsmoothness of the fondant), and wanted to share!  I was most proud of the proportions & the "Black Diamond of Illusion" as I call it!  It made my odd triangle shape of cake look like the arm and bucket of scoops digger!

Do you see the "Black Diamond of Illusion"?  Don't mind the parchment paper surrounding Bob... the royal icing wasn't dry enough for the party   (I broke 3 Bob's before resigning to incompleteness).  So, I had to be resourcefull!

Notice that the green fondant doesn't quite reach the back corner?  It's worse in the front corner cut off by the photo.... so I decided that would be a great place to put "water" lol!

This is a cheat I often use:  fondant can get heavy, and to make sure that the top piece doesn't weigh down the base, I cut a toilet paper roll to *exactly* the right hight I need, cover it in foil, and carve a hole for it (This pic shows it under the icing):


I love making cakes, but I've only done half a dozen major ones... I can never get the fondant as smooth as the "good looking" cakes that our out there, (and posted on this board!).  But the kids don't mind!  At least the grass and water is smooth!


But ofcourse, after my hours of labour, all the kids really cared about were the chocolate rocks!!! lol!  (They're candy coated chocolate, I found them at the Bulk Barn!)

I'm not sure what to call it, but instead of straight stringing, or attaching looped findings, I tried to step up my game by doing a pattern from "Beaded Fantasies".  Lovely book!  I'm pretty stoked with the results!


Except, I suck at taking close pics.  I have an automatic camera, so I can't choose the focus   I hope my mom likes them!  They're for her birthday!

I did mine using the 3M removable hooks, so when I move the wall's still good.  I did have to put more than one necklace on the hook, though.

I'm sorry, but after seeing your dusting, I did want to share... we have had a bit more snow here than we have had for quite a while.   This pic was taken about 3 days before a third storm came through... putting down over another foot!  This is a picture of my patio table!  (And my little guy with a spray bottle of blue food dyed water to draw pictures in the snow. The one thing that sucks about Canada is that the snow is usually too cold to pack together... and you can't make snow men   What is the point of all that snow if you can't make snow men!?!?!?)

Hello Crafteronies!

I was only just told of a party for my girlfriends one year old for this weekend.  I Always like to make my gifts, and so I first found a post about a toddler's first photo album.  (v.cute!  Iron on photos on a fabric book!).  I went straigt to her facebook, but there just aren't enough photos to use without exluding some of the family. 

But I did find this beautiful pic of the little girl and her daddy standing togther looking at some horses at a farm.  I'm just racking my brain on how to use this pic in a crafty project... a toy, or a decoration for her room.  But I'm having crafter's block.  I'm running out of time, so I thought maybe my fellow craftsters might have some ideas...

I love in innovative use of the candle holders!  The final product is so pretty!  It's also cool how the light comes through the middle of the flower!  Great Stuff!

Wow!  This is unreal!  It looks like your son really loves playing in it.  I was wondering, though, how does he get inside?  is there a curtain that pulls back or lifts up somewhere?

I Created a slit in the back, and put a piece of tape there to stop it from tearing from hopefully lots of use!
