1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My Poppets ~ Cosmo and Lolly (a bit image heavy) on: December 05, 2007 10:51:36 AM
I love this pattern poppet so very much! These two are presents for grandmothers.

~Lolly~
She's shy and timid but loves her sweets.

~Cosmo~
Brave and bold she likes to take her pet alien on walks across the galaxy.

Safiya wishing the other two good luck as they head off to their new homes.

Thanks!
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My first completed Poppet *Safiya* on: October 29, 2007 10:20:21 AM
The pattern is ghilie's and it's really wonderful. I completely screwed up my first poppet attempt. All user error *ugh ugh*. But I didn't give up and tried again. And this time my little poppet really came to life, I was completely in the sewing 'zone'.
Her name is Safiya, chosen by my daughter who ran away with her while whispering the secrets of tea parties and jump rope into one large ear.

I used a mark-be-gone pen to outline the pattern instead of freezer paper, plastic doll joints (which I put in incorrectly but know better for the next time), and wefted the hair with tissue paper. Her dress is an MSD Volks pattern I found on the web. And I used chalk pastel to color the ears and cheeks.

And in pieces.
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / DOC ball-jointed doll clothing on: October 07, 2007 10:19:25 AM
My first project post! I love making doll clothes, so here's my Violetta 'DOC Twingkey' in a dress I sewed. I drafted the pattern using tissue paper, tape to drape it on her body.
