261  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Ink/paints that will hold up on canvas converse? Help! on: October 17, 2007 07:39:40 AM
This weekend I'm ordering a white pair of converse just because I need some new shoes and the white ones are on sale cheap... ok.. I do not wear white. This is not going to work with my wardrobe. But I know how it can.

I want my boyfriend (a fantastic artist) to let loose and do artwork all over the new converse. The question is... what kind of inks or fabric paints or fabric pens will hold up best and not run or leak in the rain?

Bear in mind we live in England.

Thanks dudes.  Kiss
262  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What is the most inappropriate place you've seen people KIP? Discuss. :) on: October 14, 2007 07:53:15 AM
I've never seen anyone do it but as a drama student I'd be most annoyed and offended to see someone knitting during a theatre performance. THAT would be disrespectful entirely to the performers who have put thier life and soul into the work.
263  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Sailor Moon Swap? on: October 11, 2007 08:07:02 AM
I'm interested but i'm really new here, would that be a problem?
The requirements for being able to swap are that you have to be a member for at least a month and that you have posted at least 15 times. So, you'll probably be fine because this swap isn't happening for a month or so anyway.

Awesome stuff I'll bear that in mind... I'm just not sure I'm crafty enough but I LOVE Sailor Moon. ach!  Cry I need to be craftier

266  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Uses for Chenille? on: October 08, 2007 07:32:28 AM
Awesome I might consider that. At the moment I'm doing an elongated stitch scarf out of some of the leftover but that won't use up 6 balls.

Would it be possible to make a shrug out of it or is this kind of yarn not right for it to work?

(Wow I really am a newbie at this!  Tongue)

That's fantastic! I'm sure this is REALLY simple but I'm a complete beginner, any chance of a pattern to show how you did it?
268  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Uses for Chenille? on: October 08, 2007 04:09:16 AM
I bought 11 balls of chenille yarn to make a hat and scarf for my BF but only used err... 5 of them I think. They knitted up much more than I anticipated. Has anyone got any advice on what else I can make with chenille? I'm making lots of hats at the moment and I'd really like to move onto something a bit bigger without being overly complex that will work and look good in a chenille. It's a self patterning yarn in shades of blue and green.

So in the middle of knitting a chenille scarf for my BF... I got annoyed with the fact it was too big to take on the train to college with me and bought some more needles and different coloured yarn. This is the result:

I'm rather proud of it myself. I did it using the instructions from this thread: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=79516.0

I love how soft and fluffy the wool is. Now I have to finish BF's scarf whilst at home and I have 4 more hats to do as train projects as they're already in demand from my friends/family.

I'd love some feedback on this. I've got knitting fever! I'd rather be knitting than anywhere else right now.But alas, I have homework.
