2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Revamped $3 dress from resale shop. on: May 16, 2008 09:14:54 AM
So last fall sometime I bought this dress from a resale shop for about $3 (maybe it was $5) with the intent of altering it- it was an Old Navy dress I think.
Soooooo I totally revamped it. I took in the waist so it would be more fitted, removed the straps and added fabric to the skirt. I started it in January, but my crazy amount of work for vet school didn't leave much time for sewing, so I just finally finished it yesterday.
After:

Before:VERY ill-fitting.

Sorry the pictures are really blurry- my camera wasn't working so well last night so I had to resort to the cell phone camera for the after pictures. I'll post some better ones this weekend (and with more detail)!

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: ZOMG record bowl birdfeeder. on: May 16, 2008 08:28:43 AM
That's a lot of fun! If the yarn doesn't hold up (from those chubby squirrels jumping in) you can always get some light chain from a hardware store inexpensively. I hope all the birds enjoy!

If you find a tutorial, that'd be cool- I'm not that familiar with it either (but I have so many old magazines that I use in collage and paper pictures for the colors, so finding an additional thing to do with them is always great). How thick does it end up being? It looks like you could make some pretty cool and unique cards.

Great idea! Any hints/suggestions for doing that? My clarinet has been sitting in my closet for maybe 9 years...I doubt I'll ever play it again...but hard to just give it away as well....
