the noodle princess - those nests are really cute!

I haven't posted in a while... This week I got over a slump that lasted about 2 and a half weeks in which I couldn't seem to make my self sit down to spin at all. I guess it was a combination of busy-ness with other things I needed to do, and a lack of inspiration. Anyways, here is one of the ones I never posted in Sept., the ones I spun this week, and a couple of FOs/almost FOs made with handspun!

Icicle -  "Twists" yarn, handspun with my "Air Element" inspired July Loop SSB Club Batt.
Contains alpaca & sparkle & other such nummyness! Approx. 34 yds, 3.8 oz.



Age of Aquarius -  Single spun from Hobbledehoy's Aquarius batts, contains merino & sparkle. Approx. 240 yds, 3 oz.



Galileo! -  Single spun from Cloudlover's Galileo batt... contains merino, glitz, sari silk, silk noil & angora. Approx. 160 yds, 2.5oz.




Autumn Dragon Scarf & Calorimetry - Knit with my "Autumn Approaches" yarn.


Evening Dragon Scarf - (Yes I really love the pattern, this one is for me the first is a gift)
Knit with my Black Amber yarn. It is actually more finished than this picture it only needs to be blocked now.



I painted some celtic knotwork onto my wheel I really love how it turned out...
it adds just a little touch of specialness.

the noodle princess - Hey Danika! I didn't know you were a Craftster either! That's so cool Craftster was my first spinning love... Fiber Friday is what got me interested in spinning in the first place! It was great to meet you I had a really good weekend too. I was sad when it was over... and really tired... its amazing what kind of energy it takes to spin all day... I also have a sore right arm/shoulder  I think it's from the drum carder  That was so much fun too  I need to buy 2 drum carders lol. Too bad you live so far away  It would be cool to hang out and spin some time.

Jadzy, I'm beyond jealous of your trip to Camp Pluckyfluff. I heard rumors of Camp PF coming to Alaska but then I moved away.

ivycircle - There has been talk on Ravelry about a Camp Pluckyfluff in Chicago sometime next year! I don't think that is too far from Indiana... I hope you get to go to one sometime!

I spent the day at Camp Pluckyfluff!!! It was a lot of fun... I finished 3 yarns, so I finally have something to post this week I'm exhausted! It has been a long day.

I'm pretty sure I use size 10 crochet cotton, it was a giant ball that says there is over 1.5 miles on it. (I googled it... it is size 10 & says it is bedspread weight.)
I've always spun it clockwise (because thats what I'm used to...) It does tend to get overspun, setting the twist tends to help... but I'll have to try spinning it the other direction to see what happens

Happy Fiber Friday & Holiday Long Weekend!!!

I haven't had a lot of fiber time this week working the early shift is quite draining
I spun only one yarn that took me several nights to finish.

Inspired by Cloudlover's "Waves become Wings" yarn, I had to try out the technique. Handspun from Hobbledehoy's LOLbatts & Ecru merino from my stash then plyed with a varigated polyester thread in green, orange & brown. It reminded me very much of how I have issues when using thread to ply. I added some coils occasionally & tryed out the supercoil technique at the end for a little bit. It is very bouncy & squishy & the skein looks huge (to me).

Autumn Approaches  Approximately 242 yds 3.9 oz.

Have you tried adding vinegar? I know there is citric adic in koolaid and you shouldn't need it, but maybe it isn't acidic enough

There is finally a little bit of sunshine outside today... (it has been raining for what seems like weeks...)
