21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Twilight Swap Rd. 5 on: January 11, 2009 03:50:28 PM
Okay I totally lied, and this is so embarrassing... I once loved another literary character, so much that I read it for the first time in 6th grade and STILL have the book and still read it every now and then and it's been about 13 years.  That guy is Luke Muldenhower from "Don't Die My Love" (Lurlene McDaniel).  I still cry every time I read it... it's about a couple in high school who are deeply in love, he ends up with cancer.  It in many ways reminds me of edward and bellas journey, him keeping his secret from her and pushing her away a bit because he feels it's for the best for her to go on with her life, and her extreme optimism and naivety that they'll spend forever together and live happily ever after regardless of his condition.  Truly a heartbreaker.

It's of course not in the same category as Jane Eyre literary wise, but none-the-less he stole my heart.

Well, I honestly can't recall a literary character ever making my heart skip a beat like Mr Edward Cullen does.  I have a few characters that have their own spots in my heart (Nobu in Memoirs of a Geisha comes to mind) but none have ever matched my beloved Cullen  Smiley

I cant wait until New Moon. I wonder how it will effect the visual setup with a new director due to different vision?  When I was in theater I did Scrooge three times. Two where with the same director and choreographer, the other was with a different director but same choreographer... the result was two were similar productions and the third had a completely different feel.

Ya know, i thought about that and i think because twilight and new moon are quite different in tone it really might not be that big of a deal.  New Moon is pretty dark with the severe depression and recklessness and the whole suicidal thing, which is a big difference from twilight's light 'falling in love' tone.

I love New Moon, but being Edward Cullen obsessed I hate that he's gone for a good bit of it (which new moon is oddly Rob Pattinson's favorite of the books, he's apparently very much looking forward to filming his suicidal scene   Cheesy)

.... and now I feel like a pre-teen again, knowing all of this information; I'm having flashbacks of my "OMG Justin Timberlake is my future husband' days  Roll Eyes....

you are a tough cookie! I took a hiatus from everything except knitting in nursing school- and that was purely for keeping my sanity!! Keep working hard and kudos to you!

Thanks Cheesy  I'll probably have to take a step back from most crafting soon so my grades don't crash and burn but I'm going to try to keep it going as long as I can (I have a million projects in my head I want to do, crafting keeps me sane literally, it wards off panic attacks).

Oh and Lunamoine, how does it feel to know you have a date with both Harry Potter and Edward Cullen in 2009?  Cool

Just thought I'd share this tidbit of information:

Twilight DVD's release date is March 21st.... you can see the cover of it on the link
http://www.newmoonmovie.org/2009/01/twilight-dvd-release-date-march-21st/

And of course, New Moon already in november... craziness.

I shall give you all some words of advice:  NEVER attempt to apply an image with paint via stencil to a piece of fabric that you JUST applied interfacing to, even if it "feels dry enough"  Roll Eyes Talk about a leaky smudgy mess.... it pays to be patient, my impatience just made me have to start a project over.

Oh and i totally got my posters, it was a COMPLETE mess and at first they wouldn't give them to me (although I talked to someone on the phone who said just to show my receipt and i could get them) so i got mad and went and bought 2 new ones, I was halfway out the door and the manager caught me and told me to come to customer service to get my posters.... I told him i was told i couldn't get them so I bought 2 more, and he not only refunded my money but he gave me the posters also.  So now I have freaking duplicates and dunno what to do with them LOL.

I got a huge headstart on the crafting because nursing school starts back up tomorrow and i'll have class during the week and clinicals on the weekend as well as doing the whole single mom thing and making enough money to keep us afloat.... so even though I got a huge headstart it likely won't be completed until the deadline lol

I finished getting supplies today.... I also bought myself some twilight posters  Cheesy i'm such a dork.

EDIT: I just realized I walked out of the freaking store without my twilight posters!!  Cry They better have record of it darnit, I want my posters!!

Small 1: still brainstorming, have a few ideas but can't decide
Small 2: started, need more supplies
Small 3: planned out, haven't started

Medium: started, need more supplies (will get tomorrow)

Large: What originally started as a small has quickly developed into the large because I kept setting my ambitions higher on it... it's something I thought I'd finish in one night but it's turned into a bigger week-long project.  I'm maybe 1/2 way done with it but still have the hardest half to go.

thanks for pointing out thos FAQs to me... i remember reading FAQs before wanting to sign up for swaps but didn't recall that part about sizing Smiley

Woo-Hoo I got one project put together.... now i just need to do a bit of decorating with it  Smiley I found the perfect fabric for the creation but it turned out to be a PAIN to use and kept getting destroyed so I kept having to redo it, ugh.  But it's all together and sturdy, no coming apart now!  Grin

Can someone explain to me exactly what is considered to be "small", "medium", or "large"?  I realize what I consider to be a large or small project others may consider differently.  Are there some flexible guidelines on that?

Oh i totally understand, I have a friend into theater and she'd say the same things you said Jennie.

I understand the team making the movie would have/need a bit of liberty with certain things, but I don't understand when they do things that contradict with whats in the story when there's no reason for it.

I bought a few supplies today, I'll have to make a trip next week sometime to get the rest (the only store close to me is walmart).
