1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Can anyone help me ID this wheel? on: November 21, 2009 08:59:02 PM
This is probably an easy question for the experts, but I just got into spinning and my mother-in-law gave me her wheel. It was made by the Hutterites, but thats all I know and I would like to learn how to use it, but I need to know more about it in order to find instructions. Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / the dutch spiral is the devil on: October 07, 2007 10:59:52 PM
it is late, so in catching up on my project posting, i decided to post this bracelet... first of all, these colors are totally not my style, so not sure what i was thinking there, and the dutch spiral is not an easy stitch to learn (at least this way, but i have read mag instructions that make it easier)  so my thoughts on this are mixed... love or hate? let me know what you think and i will post more when i get the pics taken (forgive the peculiar lighting in the second pic)

here are the pics of the others:

these are made with microscope slides so they are a bit on the big side... i also just learned to solder so my skills need A LOT of improvement, i have cut the slides to make smaller pendants or charms and i think i like them better, but here are these anyway, thanks for looking!

6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sparkly Bluebird - My First Project on: October 03, 2007 04:00:22 PM
I am just learning needlework, this is all straight stitch, but I thought he turned out ok, I am going to incorporate him into a crazy quilt, probably by applique (which I need to learn how to do...)  He is one part of table runner my MIL got for $1 at a yard sale, we just cut out the birds.  Let me know what you think, esp. if you think there is something I should have done differently!

7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My First Sewing Project - Beanbag Froggy - Pic Heavy on: September 30, 2007 07:01:10 PM
After I got this done I realized I should have started with something easier, but if you don't look too close I think he is pretty cute.  Now bring on the stuffies!

And here he is with his accoutrement:

8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Wonder Woman Magnets on: September 30, 2007 02:09:59 PM
I found this cool wonder woman scrapbook paper so I made some magnets for my friend who is a true wonder woman.  They are really easy, made with glass flat marbles.

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Crystal Flower Bracelet and Charms on: September 29, 2007 07:46:13 PM
Our "local" (we are two hours away) beadstore offered a class in this bracelet and I couldn't pass it up.  The flowers look the best with swarovski bicones, but to keep the cost down, I used 4 mm firepolished beads in jet and red and some brown metallic seed beads.  I am only stuck on what to do for a clasp... I think a toggle would look the best, any ideas?

Here are the individual flowers done with swarovski bicones.  I think these would be good for earrings.
