1  Asherton Reversible Scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by Salihan on: March 01, 2009 03:52:39 PM
I knitted the Asherton Reversible Scarf {free pattern} for my husband's birthday but I was so pleased with the progress that I couldn't stop knitting it. And now the scarf's finished 3 months early!  Grin But it's the start of Autumn here in Australia so he'll just get more use out of it, I guess.

I used Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk yarn for the first time and I'm in love with it! My husband is blown away by how soft and light the scarf is. Not thick and bulky like the other ribbed scarves I've made him. The pattern was so easy too. There are 44 rows repeat but it's really only 22 rows cos you do each row twice. I really love this scarf. It's the best one I've made so far!

I also blog about this scarf here.

2  Homemade Heat Pads in Completed Projects by Salihan on: February 10, 2009 01:29:29 PM
I've made several heat pads and have finally figured out a way to sew sections into the pad without breaking the needle! I used the pattern from Martha Stewart's website and added the sections later.

Video instructions from Martha Stewart:

I blog about it in more detail here if you're interested:

How do you make your heat pads? What do you fill it with?

3  Handsewn Ellies (Softies) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Salihan on: February 23, 2008 03:16:04 AM
I made two Ellies - one handsewn using blanket stitch and the other whip stitch. It was an experiment to test out different stitches. I love the way they both turned out!

7  Holiday Card Star in Winter Holidays by Salihan on: January 24, 2008 09:29:35 PM
Crafting is so meditative. I was lost in Christmas cards, pointy tips, cutting and gluing for hours. I had so much fun creating this Holiday Card Star and the end result is just fabulous! And I'm doing something good for the environment by recycling cards.  Wink

8  Begedil aka Asian-style Fried Potato & Beef Patties (with Recipe) in Recipes and Cooking Tips by Salihan on: January 13, 2008 02:25:50 AM

Begedil is basically mashed potato shaped into patties, coated with egg and fried. It's one of my all-time favourite comfort food. I was looking for a recipe on the internet and didn't find one I really liked so I made it up as I went. It turned out very yummy!

P.S. I'm from Singapore, living in Australia and constantly craving Singapore dishes! Since I can't buy it easily at the food court, I'll just have to cook it myself!

9  Little Chicken in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Salihan on: January 03, 2008 01:51:19 AM

Isn't Little One a cutie? He is handsewn and embroidered. Took me an afternoon. Haha... It was more fiddly than I thought but he is worth it!

I'm trekking his day-to day activities. He is in search of his mother. You can follow his story here:
