651  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Splenda box into a tea caddy on: November 06, 2007 09:43:50 PM
Soo..

I had this empty Splenda box and too many boxes of tea.  So what did I do?  I cut a side off the box, taped it up, painted and painted until it didn't say Splenda, stenciled it to match my kitchen, and stacked some tea in it.  For the simplicity, I love it.   Grin

You can see the tape in a few spots, but I still love it.  The letters are just plain 'ol stickers that I painted green.  Waay too easy.

My crappy-run-down-apartment also has Light switches where one side has a white switch and the other is black.    Roll Eyes

I don't like it, I LOVE IT!  These tables are just too plain on their own!  I love the flowers.  I'm moving soon, maybe someone will make me something as cool as this  Grin

658  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: First post! Melted bead ornaments! on: November 04, 2007 09:38:24 PM
I did the same thing for a windchime, for the melted swap.  I put in a metal bead to act as the hole so I wouldn't have to use a drill to get a hole. the first photo shows the metal bead in the windchime ornaments http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=196925.msg2144765#msg2144765.  I found that this worked great. And no danger of drilling myself (long story, but I did it and had to get a tetnas shot) ouch!

Haha, I don't trust myself with a drill either!  I LOVE the metal bead idea though!

I second the socks or pocket warmers, though I don't know how long it would take to make them.  Or you could whip up a batch of cookies and fill small tins of cookies to hand out with them.  Men always love food Smiley

I made my boyfriend etched glass beer/coffee/whatever mugs, not necessarily for Christmas since he knew I was making them and is already using them, but he LOVES them and wants me to make more.  I got really big "beer" mugs at Ikea for around maybe $2 a piece.  At his request, I made one with the hitman logo (his favorite video game) and another with the resident evil umbrella corp logo.  He LOVES these.  I'll post pictures when I get a chance.
