1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Hyperbole and a half on: August 02, 2011 11:13:52 AM
Although I was sure I could post pics, apparently I can't, so I've put a link at the bottom of the post to an embroidery Alot that I made :-)

I made this for a friend who was going through a rough patch.  LSG is a group on Ravelry that we're both part of :-)

The outlines and the writing are embroidered, but the colouring is done with wax crayon on cotton (my wrists are bad and I needed to finish it quickly!).

Thanks so much!  This would be a fantastic base for our centrepieces - they're going to be wee trees with beads hanging from them, this would provide beautiful light for to show off the beads :-)

Not getting married til september *next* year, but hey, it pays to be prepared ;-)

This is so fantastic!  When I have kids, they're going to be so screwed up, with baby pirate hats and now mario mobiles!  Woooo!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: New member - knitted companion cube on: January 11, 2008 12:08:03 PM
Thank you everyone :-)  Yes, it's a sudoku cube - my guy can do Rubix cubes incredibly fast, apparently, once you know the algorithms, it's really easy...  So I gave him a 4x4 cube, and a friend got him the sudoku one :-)

I like the smooshyness of the cube, it's very comforting and companiony.

Hi all :-)

I have to admit, I've been lurking on the boards for a wee while now, in awe of your creativity and skills, but I finally decided to jump in :-)  I'm Fiona, and I live in Scotland, and do all kinds of crafts.  This is my version of the Portal companion cube.

As soon as I finished the game I knew I had to make one, and started playing about with ideas.  First of all, I just charted it and knitted that, but I didn't like it not have the dimensionality of the real cube, so started on other ideas.  This is a knitted cube, and I've crocheted the corners and central circles on to it.  I know it's missing the tiny bits between the corners, but I'm still working on the design ;-)  It's the prototype, but it's very smooshy and I keep having to steal it back from my friends who try and leave with it :-)

Since I haven't posted much yet, I can only link to pics, so here they are, hope you like...

Take care all,

Oooh, this is on my list too and yours looks amazing - it looks like an optical illusion - you can hypnotise people and get them to do your bidding ;-)

This is so beautiful - I've just ordered the yarn to make one for myself so it's nice to see one made :-)  Did you use the beads in it?  I'm not sure whether or not to make one first without to see how it's done...
