A few weeks ago my sister had her 1st child. Here is what I made her. A hooter hider, burp clothes (designed by my hubby) and some pee pee tee pee's.
The bottom pic is the detail on one of the burp clothes.

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / What do you get when you need to make 50 baby shower invites *Pic Heavy* on: January 10, 2010 11:37:43 AM
So I am throwing a baby shower for a friend of mine. She has 50 people coming (which I only fond out this week and the shower is in three) So when my MIL, husbands aunt and I came together the invites all ended up different. I am loving them! We are doing a black, white and yellow theme since they have no idea what they are having!
So what do you think?

I know some washers have a sharp edge on the underside from being punched out by a machine, did you encounter this? I would think you would need to smooth that down?
I haven't notice any sharp edges. Everything has been pretty smooth. I would for sure smooth it down though if I had encountered it.
Does that make since? I hope that helps.

How fun! I love the play on words!  Grin I just might steal this idea.
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Reindeer Feed on: December 14, 2009 11:00:00 AM

Every year my dd and I like to make Reindeer feed. It is really easy and super cheap.
This is  a great gift to give away  to families with kids (some adults to) I can't find my instructions so after looking on the web I found these instructions, Use oatmeal and edible glitter by Wilton, or colored sugar. Make sure not to use regular glitter as it is harmful to animals! Place in a bag (can be a cellophane bag or a brown lunch bag decorated to look like a reindeer). but I have always used bird seed instead of oats because it more colorful and my dd likes to pick it out but you can use what ever. These are the ones I made last year, I used clearance hallowen buckets and the just Mod Podge the paper and used some ribbon to decorate. Then I attached this poem!
I Hope you like it !

On Christmas Eve before you sleep,
Step outside and take a peek.
Can you see them? Are they near?
You don't think so? Never fear!
While still outside do this simple deed:
Sprinkle this packet of special feed.
The glow of the stardust, the small of oats
Will draw to YOUR house those special folks!
They can't miss you now, there's nothing to fear,
For this special mix is guaranteed
To draw Santa and his famous reindeer.

Where can you find the Glossy Accents? Walmart or Michael's in Canada?
LOVE the idea, perfect for my teen daughter to make for her friends for Christmas!
I found mine at Joann's in the Scrapbook section, but it took me forever to find. (I couldn't find anyone to help me so I ended up calling the store I was in and was like "Hi I am in isle three can you help me?" ) Anyway it is used for stamps alot so try looking in that section or in the adhesive section. I am sure though you can find it at any craft like store.

Don't you need to rough up the metal a bit to make the glue stick better?
I don't rough up my washers and the mod podge stick just fine. What I do is put the Mod Podge on the washer first; then I put it on the back of my paper.  By the time that I put the two together it is not as wet and more sticky. KWIM? I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Also I would worry about bumps if it were roughed up. The washer though does have a rough side and a smooth side. I use the smooth side because I like the look of it more. To each their own though.

Thank you so much for all of your kind words, sorry it took so long to reply but it has been a crazy weekend. I can't wait to see all of your guys pictures of you washer necklaces!
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Help for Ideas - Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys at the Office on: December 04, 2009 01:58:08 PM
I am just rattling off the top of my head but here are some ideas
For Yukon Cornelius you can make it like a silver and gold mine or you can decorate it with Silver and gold like the song...
For Herme you can make it a dentist office
For the doll you can make it in to a doll house room or something cutesy like that,
As far as the other cubicles you can make it like a tour of the island of misfit toys
maybe with cute little maps and then you can include all the toys or just some and they don't have to be in any order.
Just some ideas I am totally jealous that your works does that how fun!

10  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Christmas Hair Rose. on: December 04, 2009 12:26:15 PM
My best friend wanted hair flowers for Christmas. So I chose to do sew simple ruffled roses. They were time consuming but all in all I think that I will make some for my etsy shop that I am opening in Jan. What do you think?
