3  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 37 (8/01/01-8/31/08) on: August 18, 2008 10:43:02 AM
I'd like to claim addicted2knitting for "your crafted surprise" and some dp needles

This is my 1st claim

About me:
I am a 30 year old mother of two girls, age 2 years (at the end of August) and 4 months.  I live in North Carolina with my girls, hubby, 3 dogs, 4 turtles and a love bird.  I collect anything and everything related to turtles.  My oldest, Sierra Josephine, collects bears, like polar bears and panda bears (not teddy bears). My youngest, Kaitlyn Rhys, collects woodland animals, like deer and raccoons. My hubby collects medieval figurines and gargoyles  All of us like dragons, unicorns and fairies

My Wish List
•   Anything involving our above listed collections
•   Any type of jewelry that incorporates all of our birthstone colors, which are amethyst (Feb), aquamarine (Mar), peridot (Aug), and sapphire (Sep).
•   Anything with my daughters’ names on it
•   Handpainted and/or handspun yarn of any type (though I would love some bamboo or alpaca yarn)
•   Handmade clothes for my kids, sizes 2T and 6/9 months.  Favorite colors are a bit unusual for kids, but deep, rich tones like reds, greens, purples, teal or black
•   100% cotton fabric that is batik, tie-dyed or Indian inspired, at least 1 yard, in deep rich tones
•   Knitting needle and/or crochet needle case (preferably the roll up kind)Thanks pinupmommy!
•   A messenger bag (PM me for ideas of what I’d like)
•   A pre-made scrapbook for baby pictures (I love homemade scrapbooks but do not have the talent to do them!), or for something specific, I’d like one themed “In the Hospital and Coming Home”, “My first Beach Trip”, “Birthdays”, “Christmas”, or “Halloween”
•   BIG WISH – pattern from Annie’s Attic, either the 6-pointed star afghan here http://www.anniesattic.com/crochet/detail.html?prod_id=22829 or the Cathedral Rose Window Afghan here http://www.anniesattic.com/crochet/detail.html?prod_id=21741
•   The book “The Art of Jewelry: Polymer Clay: Techniques, Projects, Inspiration”
•   Any book on marudai kumihimo by Makiko Tada

Thanks in advance!!
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Help finding a good granny square pattern! on: August 17, 2008 03:06:02 PM
I want to make an item composed of granny squares that will be lined with a very lovely fabric, and I want to showcase the fabric through the granny square as much as possible.  Does anyone know of a good square pattern that would be open enough to show the fabric?

Thanks!

5  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Inga's Häkelbeutel ~ German Granny Square Bag CAL on: July 22, 2008 09:00:13 AM
Hey ya'll
Anyone else having a problem with their granny sqaures not being, well, square?  I have done a few squares, and they just aren't lying flat.  I'm new to crocheting, so maybe I'm doing something wrong with the pattern?  Every time I start a new "round", my ch-3 is about 3 more or stitches from the corner.  Is that right, that the beginning will move further away from the corner with each round?

Thanks!

I'm definitely in for this CAL - I've been looking at this one for a while!

7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / ISO pattern or help for Carolina amigurumi on: July 10, 2008 09:10:25 AM
Does anyone know if there is a pattern or can otherwise help me design an amigurumi of the Carolina Tarheels Ram mascot?  I have only been crocheting for a month, so I don't think I can design him myself.

Thanks!!

Those are totally awesome.  Where did you find the pattern, or is it freestyle?  I know someone that would absolutely love to have a few.

T

I bought the pattern on Etsy.  Someone called Meely Patterns.  It is a very simple pattern.  A little time consuming for me, because I had never crocheted in the round and the little legs were difficult for my big fingers, but one I got the hang of it, it is addictive!

So I've finished my first little amigurumi turtles...they are the second thing I've ever crocheted.  I've knitted for years, but never did pick up crochet until about a month ago and it just clicked!  These guys are fun, they have a personality!

Hello all
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to finish wood painted with acrylics in a safe and non-toxic way as to make it safe to eat on and wash?

Thanks!
