You could go with a zoo type theme.
You could be the zoo keeper with the special exhibit monster
The keeper costume would be pretty easy you could make a patch for "Jurassic Zoo" and a "please feed the animals" sign

My mother went as Tia Dalma last year and it turned out amazing and she didn't seem to have too many problems with creating the costume.

80's cartoon characters are popular, especially since big manufacturers started making the skankier versions.

some tv shows that could be fun to pull female characters from:
-Fraggle Rock
-Captain Planet
