Hey I love this idea!! My mum used to be a garage sale whore and so we have HEAPS of old books lying around the place Smiley

I was just wondering.. Would plain stitching and paper instead of the ribbon work for this? Because I'm poor and incredibly unable to understand coptic stitch..  Sad

Coptic stitch is really easy once you get the hang of it, maybe try and find someone who knows how to do it and get them to show you, because seriously, it's a lot easier to get someone to show you. Had to this in middle school... :/
Unless you're still in school, I don't know you, you could ask an art teacher. Or home ec sewing teacher.
I honestly don't know about the plain stitching, it might; plain paper...hmm. Possibly, I honestly don't know Undecided, i'll have test it O.O

I LOVE YOU.

This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for...We have to make sketchbooks out of old encyclopedias in my fine arts class, we can do whatever we want with them, because they're old. I figured I could do this, but I didn't know how.
I'll just have to buy a few things and I'll be set.
You have no idea how happy and relieved I am, I was panicking looking for directions on how to do this.
You are so awesome.
I'm going to have the spiffiest sketch book ever now.

Thanks for the tutorial, it sounds really easy.

THANK YOU
 Cheesy

All these jammer purses and tang pouch bags are really inspiring, I'm going to have to go and buy lots of boxes. Your little purse is so cute and the tutorial's easy to follow.  Smiley
336  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: Skittles Purse on: August 18, 2004 05:16:57 PM
Okay, I am making a purse out of Skittles wrappers similar ot the way the Starburst ones are made.  The only difference is that I covered eack wrapper individually in duct tape and clear packing tape and am sewing them together.  First problem, my neddle has gotten all sticky, which is easily solved by dunking it in some GOO_Gone.  My other problem is that my thread is getting torn up and breaking because of the tape.  Anyone know what kind of thread i should use or any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Annie
I don't think sewing through all that tape's a good idea. What if you just duct tape it together? and cover it in clear packaging tape. or use the clear tape to tape it together.. O.o
