1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: A Question about canes on: November 02, 2007 08:59:33 AM
Ahhh ok, I'll try that, thanks! I'll try and get one of those really thin blades too next week, I think that'd help Cheesy
2  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / A Question about canes on: November 01, 2007 05:13:25 PM
I've had a look at the tutorials, but I need to ask a really basic question!
How do you cut a cane?
When I've tried cutting them, they have distorted beyond belief, you know, the colours have run down with the motion of the knife I've usede - if that makes sense.
I don't have anything I can use really apart froma sharp knife and my craft shop doesn't have much tbh either.
So.. how do you do it? Do you just have to be really slow and careful??

Oh thanks for the info! I'll try and get some wee plastic tubs to put em in, they are in a large plastic tub in their wrapping at the mo.
I've had a look at the guild, it looks great! No way am I up to their standards!  Embarrassed

I'm sooo addicted to polyclay! Cheesy
Currently it's just lying around my desk but I'm a neat freak and desperately want to organise it and tidy it! What can I keep it in that's cheap and the colours can't contaminate each other? (I'm in the UK btw so I'm still cathing up with American terms related to sculpey and stuff  (such as brand names) Embarrassed )

I've found that with white clay too. My hands are scrubbed and immaculate but I STILL seem to get tiny bits of fluff and stuff on it. It's very annoying!
And I second the stuff about red clay too, it's a particularly potent colour (as is ketchup and tomato soup which will stain anything).
Other than that I'd just add to be inspired by anything and everything!
