Wow! I want one!  Grin I agree that the best detail is the silhouette; can't believe you managed to make it look so much like DT! You'll make a lot of friends carrying that around, for sure.

It's gorgeous! I love the colors and agree that you don't need to add flowers--just let the beautiful blue-green shades and the clean shaping stand on their own.

Well done; you should be very proud of your work! Grin

Actually, I really like the oversized armwarmers--the big, chunky feel makes them look supercute. All your knits look good, but I think you should rock those especially with pride! Cheesy

^Ahhhh, thank you!! The knitty explanation makes about a thousand times more sense. You're a doll!!

No problem. We'll look forward to seeing it when it's done! Cheesy

I'm working on the Amelia Earhart hat now in a yummy mohair blend from Patton's, but it's REALLY confusing. ( http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/kpatt07.htm ) Has anyone made this pattern before? what is it trying to tell me with the stitches on the left needle and the wrapped stitches...? I'm so confused ! Do you work those stitches on the L needle, or...?

I haven't made this, but it looks like the pattern wants you to work short rows. It's a method of shaping that lets you work just the center of a row. Moving the stitch from the left to the right needle and back, wrapping your working yarn around it as you do, lets you do that without making a hole in your work. The bold section that starts with "After working the last P st..." is just an explanation for the part of the pattern that says "W&T (Wrap, slip the wrapped stitch, and Turn: (37 st; 1 on left needle, 36 on right needle)."

Knitty has a pretty good feature on short rows at http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer03/FEATbonnetric.html.

I just found this pattern earlier today: http://jkaori.blogspot.com/2008/12/minako-cap.html

It's also designed as a chemo cap, but with some stylish, comfortable yarn, it could be pretty cute.

Oh, also: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-kim-cloche

That's a cloche, with more coverage and much more warmth than a cap. It seems to look good on a lot of people, and because of its size and shape, it would help hide her hair loss if she's self-conscious about it. If you size it just right (knitting it a bit large isn't a bad idea, since this one can easily be hand-felted down), it'll work over both a bare head and a wig.

It's good to hear that your boyfriend's mom is doing well; I hope she continues to make a smooth recovery. Good on you for using your knitting to help cheer her up. Smiley

No way; I'd wear it! Super cute! Grin I didn't even notice what you're calling glaring mistakes until you pointed them out, and knitters are probably more likely to be more perceptive than non-knitters. You should wear it with pride! <3

Wow, great! I love the way the pattern displays the natural variations in the color of the wool. Can't believe you went through that whole process yourself; I'm so impressed!

Awesome! Can't wait for the updated pattern--but now my problem will be deciding which version to knit!  Cheesy

You got a pattern for the first pair??

Yep, a day or two ago! I won't link to the OP's blog (Craftster rules about not promoting sales), but if you just happened to follow the general link in her signature, you might totally accidentally run across the original pattern link by scrolling down.  Wink  I'm not sure if snoweviolet's still offering v1.0, but maybe if you asked nicely?
