13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Need help to install a zipper. on: March 13, 2008 03:46:03 PM
I just finished making my daughter a dress and it's a little hard to get on. It fits rather loosely once it's finally on. So now I thought I'd like to put in a zipper to make it easier to get on. I've got a 12 in zipper that would match as well. I've never done a zipper so I called the MIL for advice and she said unless I had already allowed for room then I can't put a zipper in. I didn't realize that. I thought I could just cut the dress. Is she right and I'm just SOL? IF it is possible to still put one in please let me know how? Thanks

I would like to make some cute dresses like this: http://www.landsend.com/pp/CapsleeveJerseyDress~137983_1187.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::VLQ&CM_MERCH=IDX_00004__0000000420&origin=index

but can't seem to find a pattern for them. Can anyone lead me in a good direction on finding these HTF patterns?

Thank you so much. I knew there would have been a topic on this somewhere but I couldn't find it no matter what words I used in the search engine. Thanks for taking the time to link me.
19  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / How to get multiple sizes from the pattern on: March 04, 2008 05:04:50 PM
I just bought a pattern for several different dresses and also it has sizes 3-8. I have a child who is a size 6 and one who is a 4. I want to use both sizes, but later I might want to use the 7....you know next year.

So what is the secret to getting all the sizes out of the brown tissue paper? I am stingy and don't want to buy a new pattern every time I change sizes.
