I've lurked the boards a long time, but I've never posted a project because it seems I'm shy even in virtual social settings, so if I do this wrong, I apologize!
I was actually inspired by this shirt http://patchworkunderground.com/blog/2009/06/free-asymetrial-granny-square-top-tutorial. But since my tummy and I have agreed to disagree, I wasn't crazy about showing off that much front section, so I modified the idea a bit and got this:
Please pardon the disgusted look on my face (I don't love the camera) and my sneaky underwear trying to steal the spotlight. I think if I do this again, I'll shape the top of the square a bit more, since it ridges a bit under the bust where it wants to come to a point, but I don't know if that shows in the photo.
The bust is actually knitted because I didn't want to line it and crochet was a bit too revealing. The torso is just one big granny square, and I edged with crochet and made two long crochet straps that tied at the back.
Thanks for looking at my first post!
