My lovely package from TheSapphireMoon:

...everything, wrapped...with the fabulous stocking!

...detail of the incredible workmanship of the stocking...

...handmade items, unwrapped!   felt ornaments, fleece mitts, bookmark and bracelet, felted pouch, super cute jar of very useful sewing whimsies with pincushion top, handmade gift tags...

...felt ornaments, with fleece mitts and a lovely beaded bookmark and bracelet in the background...

...close-up of the bracelet, with handmade gift tags...

...and finally, lots of goodies...vintage hallmark ornament, vintage christmas patterns, bottle stopper, pocket calendar, cookbook, christmas rubber duckie, butterfly keychain, magnetic note pad, "laughter" plaque, pet tag...

Thank you, TSM, for a wonderful package!  Your embroidery skills are amazing!  And your jewelry is so lovely.  Thank you!

Here's a photo of the fair isle stocking I sent to TSM--I loved how this turned out!  The colors worked so well with the fabulous Scandinavian designs--it was a pleasure to knit!  And very stuff-able!

Also, a group shot that shows a little more detail on some of the extras!

I had a great time working on this package--Thanks so much to the organizers--this swap is great fun!

I just received a wonderful package from my Secret Santa!

Here's a shot of everything, including some fun extras, a tree-shaped cookie cutter and patterned journal!

A LOVELY garland made from vintage doilies!  This has been on my wist forever and I was so delighted with this!  This one is going up in the living room this weekend!

Front and back of a patchwork bag--I love the neutral colors!

...And two great little fabric bins with vintage doilies, and a super-cut mug rug!  This little mini-quilt is so well-made.  What talent!  Smiley

This is all very much my style--Thank you so much, Secret Santa!!  *wink*wink*   I'll post later about who it is (you know who you are!), but for now, any ideas who it might be??

5  Re: Holiday Handmade Crusade 2011 :: ONGOING in Craftalongs by oneredboot on: January 04, 2011 07:33:28 AM
I'm also planning to make fabric giftbags for whatever gifts I buy or make.

I have been wanting to do that for years, and I have never gotten around to it. I have the fabric and everything! Maybe this year is the year!

I made embroidered gift bags this year.  The process of sewing 16 osanburg cloth bags was extremely tedious, but the results were really nice!  I forgot to take photos of all of them, but here's an extra set of bags that I  put into my Shop the Swap shop:

From my experience of last year, I think starting early is the key for fabric gift bags!

looking forward to the weekly blog posts, stoliedina!

this week i worked on 2011 xmas cards!  every year i use the raw materials of xmas cards i received to make next year's cards.

here's what i came up with this time:

close up:

envelopes:

this year we moved, so the received xmas cards were pretty scarce!  i supplemented with holiday catalogs from garnet hill and anthropologie.  also, usually i like to use reclaimed envelopes, but i've used up my stash and didn't feel up to making envelopes--maybe next year.  i decided to purchase envelopes--i got these brown kraft envelopes at a great price.

my xmas gift goals this year are to do less and have more fun.  so, i'm focusing on making one nice, thoughtful gift per person rather than overdoing it with a proliferation of gifts.  i really like to give sets of gifts, so this year i'll also be working on being OK with giving just one nice gift rather than several items.   i'm planning to make several pairs of handknit socks, a knitted shawl or two, and perhaps some simple lap quilts.  we'll see!

thanks again for running this great craft-a-long, stoliedina!

8  Re: Christmas Stocking Swap Round 6!!!! in The Swap Gallery by oneredboot on: December 01, 2010 08:07:12 PM
I opened my goodies from Troublet this weekend!  She sent a truly fabulous, super thoughtful package that really brightened my day!

Here's a shot of everything:

a crock-pot cookbook (she knows that I slow cook like crazy in the winter!), a lovely bookmark, notepad, and fun mulling spices!  there are also two boxes of green tea (my favorite!) that I forgot to photograph close-up (but you can see them in the photo above).

an adorable coin purse from my wists, dried oregano (my favorite herb) from her garden (how impressive is that??), and an altered altoids tin (which i think is a little needle case and place for embroidery or knitting tools?)  These are all mini and so well-made.

soaps from mullerslanefarm, bath teas and little bath tea bags(!), goats milk soaps, and homemade apple butter!

yummy patchwork and velvet scarf, fun bug embroidery, and an AMAZING "make do and mend" hoop!  this one is just ingenious, with little bits of thread poking here and there to make it look like it was "mended"--amazing!  this is now hanging right by my sewing machine!

and the incredible, lovely, delicate, and sooo gorgeous doily / embroidery piece....i LOVE this!  it's already hanging above my desk so i can see it all the time.

Troublet, thank you so much your thoughtful and beautiful work!  I love everything!

9  Re: STS Community Holiday Appreciation Swap / Round 2 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by oneredboot on: December 01, 2010 07:43:53 PM
WOW!  The gallery this year is truly exceptional.  I'm sooo floored by how thoughtful everyone has been!

...Including, my very own Secret Santa....freestyle!  she sent me the most amazing box of goodies!

first, here's the whole package:

lovely ornaments for the tree.  the fabric ball looks extremely complicated, and the tiny wreath is made of buttons!!  i can't wait to put these on the tree.  wait, we have to get the tree first...

cupcake bomb and some natural beeswax lip balm--perfect and already in use!

delicious soap, lovely tea (already consumed), and silly barnyard animal stitch markers (with those elusive large rings--awesome!)!

and of course, the main attraction:  freestyle's incredible handspun YARN!  in all of its sparkly, rusty, squishy, thick-n-thin, fibery goodness!  what can be said except...gorgeous!  i'm speechless in the face of all of its untold promise...what projects are waiting to be conjured?   what loveliness with slide off the needles? the contemplation of the possibilities is at least half the fun!

freestyle, thank you so very much for a truly spectacular, thoughtful, and fun package!!!!    i love everything!
