11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Naughty Knitting, Anyone? on: September 25, 2008 09:49:35 AM
I have a Finish friend who used to occasionally go to my Stitch n Bitch in Japan, I'd ask him to translate but that might be a little awkward. O.o; heheh.

Anyone tried a translation website yet?

I tried to find a translation website first thing, but i couldn't find one that translates Swedish...

Thanks, everyone! So Retromiad and soozeq, are you saying that a cold run in the washer and laid flat to dry would be okay? What kind of detergent do you use?

For all my handwash only garments, I use the wool wash Soak. You just use a teaspoon of the Soak wash with a gallon of cold water, let your garment soak for 15 minutes, squeeze it out and let it dry flat. I really love it because it even cleans my giant bulky hoodie and is basically zero effort.

Do you even have to rinse? This stuff sounds awesome!
13  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Gluten-Free/Celiac-Friendly Recipes on: September 22, 2008 01:11:19 PM
I just started the gluten-free thing a couple of weeks ago... just for its health benefits. I think a lot of the products out there taste like cardboard.   Undecided

I did, however, find some decent gluten free/wheat free pancake mix at the grocery store.  It's by Pamela's Products, and was actually pretty good.   Wink

You can find them here:

or here (under baking mixes):

You should definitely try the Gluten Free Pantry products and the Glutino products. Always great stuff. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by either of them.

Post your favorite naughty knitting pattern here!

I'll go first:

I love, love, LOVE these handcuffs. Too bad the pattern is written in Swedish (incidentally, can anyone translate it?). I think it's so clever to make comfy handcuffs that aren't going to rub your wrists raw, but I think I'd make that first link outta metal, too. I have only about a billion peple who would love to get these for Christmas or their Birthdays... But we won't talk about that. Wink

Can't wait to see what you all find!

15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I'd rather not ruin my first *good* sweater on: September 22, 2008 12:58:01 PM
I just finished my first *good* sweater, Lucy-in-the-Sky done in a lovely grey-blue 100% alpaca yarn (I'll be posting a picture as soon as i can!). I really don't want to ruin it, but I thought washing it might help it to be a little less.. itchy. Besides the fact that it will eventually get dirty and whatnot.

How can I wash 100% alpaca without felting it beyond recognition? Of course there's handwashing, but is that really necessary? And what is the proper way to handwash a garment? Step by step instructions would be SO helpful, but don't feel like you have to write out some long answer.

Thanks in advance!

So does anyone know how to pronounce "nostepinne"?
17  UNITED STATES / Kansas / Re: Plainly no one in Kansas crafts on: July 08, 2008 12:37:31 PM
If you're around Ottawa, Kansas, I hear the Farmers' Market has some lovely homespun yarn. I'm going tomorrow!

I will second... or fourteenth, I guess... what everyone else has said. I love it!

Is this the yarn you used? http://www.dreamincoloryarn.com/pages/colors.html

Some of us rely on the internet because we live far away from anywhere that sells non-acrylic yarn.
