1  Re: Favorite Movie-In-A-Box Swap in The Swap Gallery by timid_gothica on: August 28, 2009 01:09:21 AM
So my partner Teffy made for the most amazing Watchmen box! I adore everything I received. There's a Dr. Manhattan hat, silk spectre earrings, a Rorschach needle holder, a comedian container, Night owl sleeping mask, and an Ozymandias based friendship bracelet.

2  accidently steampunk... in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by timid_gothica on: June 15, 2009 01:43:05 AM
I ended up with this:

when aiming for this:

I know where I messed up. and I can see now where I could have simplified the pattern I drafted.

- elongate the skirt area, that's why I had to add the rufflage, way too short
- instead of have 4 pieces for the top, I can just have two. kind of fond of the 4 piece design I drew out though
-do a box ruffle at each joint (instead of many regular ruffles that made the fabric bunch)

all in all, not exactly what I hoped for, but neat nonetheless.

what do you think?

4  Plaid garter belt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by timid_gothica on: May 15, 2009 06:43:37 AM
I went to the 10 cent sale at the attic monday. I was so excited to find a plaid skirt in a size that fit me... turned out they were a pair of short that didn't really fit me. So, I split the seems and crafted it into a sweet garter belt! I'm planning on making a bra to match (crosses fingers), and a corset once I find the boning.

thanks for gandering!

5  long sleeved to ruffled short sleeve in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by timid_gothica on: May 07, 2009 06:55:55 AM
AH yes, recons. I don't know why I've been gone so long. I've had a few pieces that I didn't want to get rid of due to their awesomeness potential. One was a cardigan about 6 sizes too big, but it was too soft.... just tooo SOFT!!!! so, I sized it down, and redid the sleeves to make em poofy how I likes em. The second one a Calvin Klein with a Parsley (yes the garnish) pattern that I found for a dollar. There was a seller on one of the craft fair video specials on threadbanger, and she cut off the sleeves and made ruffles with em... what a great idea right?

6  Eeyore Hoodie and kitty hoodies in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by timid_gothica on: May 06, 2009 09:14:24 PM
After I got the comments from ladyjanewriter and vickilyn666 from threadbanger about my first hood looking like Eeyore... I realized how much my roommate loved him. So I made her one! I also made my friend one that looks like Eek! the cat, and two striped one's for her son's that like Tim Burton a ton. So here's my results! The blue material is from a pair of old pajamas, and the rest of the material is either old clothing or scrap material from thrift stores.

thanks for looking you guys... I know I've been hoodie crazy.

7  hounds tooth bunny hood in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by timid_gothica on: May 05, 2009 06:06:16 AM
had to make myself a floppy bunny ear hood. made from some hounds tooth material I salvaged from some thrift store pants, quilting scraps, red ribbon, and some weird checkered lobster fabric that i've been holding on to.

I love my creation, and my sewing skills have totally improved!

9  So many headbands! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by timid_gothica on: January 09, 2009 04:29:55 AM
These are 5 headbands I recently completed since my head felt naked. I added a bit of professionalism with some lace covering the fabric seams.

10  Gold, eggshell winter cape in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by timid_gothica on: December 29, 2008 11:34:57 AM
I made this for my roommate for the holidays. She was always looking at my crest fabric which had been sitting in my room for months, but I was never quite sure what to do with it. So I fashioned her a fantastic cape after seeing a Threadbangers tutorial. I moved away from the recommended clap as used matching buttons and decorative rope instead.
