1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Anime Slippers! Totoro and Sgt. Frog! on: February 26, 2010 11:48:54 AM

I JUST finished these. The Sgt. Frog slippers are for my husband and the Totoro ones are for me! I didn't use a pattern for the Sgt. Frog ones but I did kinda for Totoro. I looked at the Happy Hooker Fuzzy Bunny Slippers but the pattern was super confusing and it came out all crazy but I improvised. The Sgt. Frog ones I made up because I couldn't find anything for men's sizes. I redid them 3 times but I think they came out really good. I wanted to share them because I'm so proud and exhausted after making them!
Thanks for looking!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / All twisted up! Circular needle questions. on: December 06, 2009 04:56:54 PM
Hello everyone! I'm fairly new to knitting. I'm a crocheter first. I just fell in love with knitting.
It seems that circular needles are all the rage, and I keep hearing about how great they are. I got some to practice with, they're 29" in length. What I want to ask is if the plastic cord on all the kinds are as stiff as the clover brand? I felt so frustrated with them constantly curling! Does this go away with use? How does everyone control that? Also, can magic loop only be done on longer than 29"? I tried to do it and of course I was already having issues with the cord before I tried that as well. I've been searching online everywhere for info but am not seeing this problem so maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I need some advice because I've been turned off to circular needles and I don't want to be, but so far no luck!
Thanks in advance.

-Crystal

EDIT: Thanks for all the advice! It's nice to know I'm not the only one not diggin' the circulars. I think I will wait on them for interchangeable ones in the future. I'm going to just get some DPNs for the time being.
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Pika Pouch! on: August 16, 2009 06:14:39 AM
I made this little pikachu pouch for a Kawaii/Sanrio swap that I just was in. My swap partner loved him and now that she has him I can post pics here!

My own pattern.
I just used single crochet with a H and G hook.
He has a felt face and embroidery floss.
What do you guys think?! ^_^ I was so proud of him, he's a usable amigurui! I've been on this thing where I want to try to turn everything into a crochet pouch...I dunno, it's a challege I guess. I should make a little purse sized one with a strap!

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Penguin Pajamas/Romper/Kigurumi! on: July 22, 2009 10:59:54 AM
I made this Penguin suit for Otakon 2009 last minute. It's supposed to be a pen2 cosplay/pajamas from Evangelion...but either way it's a cute penguin outfit to chill in! ^_^ He was sewn up in one day using knit t-shirt type material, professional resin snaps (I LOVE my snap press) and my serger. I loved making him. He was based off of a Kigurumi (a Japanese baggy animal pajama suit) but I wanted one with short sleeves and shorts. It's super comfy and I plan on making lots more of these of all my fave animals and characters...next up Totoro!

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Burger and Breakfast Scrubbies! on: June 24, 2009 03:07:48 PM
I love my facial scrubbies and had to share them with fellow craftsters! Now that I'm crocheting, I really wanted to make myself some cotton pad alternatives for taking off makeup or putting on toner.
Edit: Oooo I forgot to say that these are made with 100% cotton Lily's Sugar'nCream. I LOVE crocheting with that stuff ^_^

6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crochet Mask on: February 28, 2009 04:48:23 PM
I had a Masked Ball to go to with my hubby and some friends for Valentine's Day. I wore my super frilly Sweet Lolita dress so I needed a mask to go with it. The only thing I could think of to make in time was a crochet mask. It was done using white bamboo crochet thread. I think it's pretty and it was SUPER COMFORTABLE! I did it free form and now I think I know what I could do to make a better one if I ever made it again!

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Johnny The Homicidal Maniac...Poppet??? on: March 15, 2008 10:47:11 PM
I was looking around at stuff I made a long time ago and found that my Johnny the homicidal maniac doll looks similar to a poppet!

I've never heard of poppets before this forum but I think the pattern I used for him could be similar to them?? I did make his limbs a bit longer to be more like the character. I don't know, Poppet people let me know! I was wanting to make a poppet and I still have the pattern sooo I'll give it a try...something less homicidal this time though Wink
