21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Let it be....Our Lady of Guadalupe silk wrap skirt on: January 09, 2009 08:18:52 PM
Cheesy This reminded me of the Beatles "Let It Be"...."When I find my self in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me...speaking words of wisdom, let it be" - great inspiration Wink
I've had this on my sewing table for about 2 years now, just waiting to be finished...but I couldn't just let it be a plain Jane black silk dupioni wrap skirt - UGH! So I put it off until recently - I found this awesome Our Lady of Guadalupe fabric....perfection!! After putting four panels on - I decided it still didn't quite look finished - so I rummaged around and found this super huge vintage lace - it's about 5" long!!! I loved it so much - I actually wore it to dinner out tonight  Grin Please let me know what y'all think...

22  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / That 70's cowl - version 1 & 1.2 on: January 03, 2009 05:32:17 PM
Wink First actual project on the Nifty Knitters....a warm wonderful cowl! Inspired by the 1970's avocado colored appliances - they are made from Tahki Baby bulky wool. Let me know what y'all think - I am uber proud of them as this was the first real project and I changed colors without too much effort!

23  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Barbarella (faux) fur bikini on: December 30, 2008 07:08:20 PM
Grin Ok - seriously - one of the funnest things I've knit in forever Grin  Super easy, but had to knit the bottoms twice because they were absolutely massive (like a XXL or XXXL and they were for a small/med person), but at least the kiddies have something fun to play with.. Tongue Roll Eyes
Anyhoo, knit (without doing a swatch - yup, another one of those stupid things I do) using the recommended yarn (Paton's Divine) and needles (you'd think that it'd knit up the same as theirs...UGH!) and very fast and easy (pattern from the book Naughty Needles). Brushed out to make it look a little more like actual fur  Grin  Knit for gavagai for the Born in the wrong decade swap...Please let me know what y'all think of it!

24  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / 13 Mohawk hats and a friggin' partridge in a pear tree... on: December 14, 2008 12:23:17 PM
Wink So I have made a couple of the hats for friends and whatnot, and all the cousins decided that they needed these after seeing them on my kiddies last year. So, of course, I forget about it until Thanksgiving, when they so graciously reminded me (and I have to have them done by next weekend for the family gathering) about them. Finished 'em up after a marathon (and I do mean marathon) knitting spree - I give you - MOHAWK MADNESS!!!!!!!

Girl with one of (their) Bears (UGH!) hats on..

The girl and boy's Bears hats off...

completely finished (and dry!!@)

drying...

Now that I'm finally done.....I don't want to see another one for at least a month!!! Please let me know what y'all think! Wink

25  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Corset leg warmers on: December 05, 2008 10:58:57 PM
Was browsing on Etsy and happened to find this delicious pattern for corset legwarmers (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vt_related_1&listing_id=17458470). What's a girl to do? Make them of course! Wink Used bulky Aurora (100% merino) yarn in a fabulous pumpkin orange and added some lovely Hanah silk ribbon to finish it off....also - my very first cable project (I only messed up on one row in one spot which I thankfully left out) Tongue.
Let me know what y'all think... Roll Eyes

26  COOKING / Dessert / Crazy cupcakes..... on: December 05, 2008 10:46:00 PM
Wink Okay....first time posting on this board. Bought the "Hello Cupcake!" book awhile ago and had to try something out for a friends birthday and my Christmas gift to our small town PO peoples. Here is the result....let me know what y'all think! Grin

27  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Cave girl/Ice vixen Naughty Needles question... on: November 10, 2008 03:21:07 PM
I have started doing the bottoms for this pattern and since I didn't have size 10.5 needles, I had to use my size 11's.....problem being, I made the small size and the bottoms are soooooo huge (they fit me over my jeans and I'm an XL/XXL  Embarrassed) that I don't know what to do. I used Paton's Divine yarn for this - does anyone know if it felts - 'cause I'd rather not reknit the entire bottoms..... Cry
28  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Making crap just a little better on: October 30, 2008 08:49:26 PM
Ok - so I bought this uber-crappy costume about 5 years ago (back during the corporate days before kids) and recently dug it out of the "crap costumes" pile. It had no oomph and was obviously ill-fitting (you notice that its only a foot short of my feet Lips sealed and gives me saggy boob syndrome), so what's a craftster to do? Fix it, of course.....but to only do it without spending any money......hmmmmmm......

So, I'm thinking "What has poof that is in my closet.......MY WEDDING DRESS!!" If only it fits.....IT DOES (barely Embarrassed)!!!

Woo hoo! After having hubby zip me up - I pull on the costume of doom....and this is what ya get.....not quite handmade.....but way better than spending more money on crap!

This is my "I'm on the cover of 80's romance novel" look Grin

Thanks to dh for taking the crap pics so I had to take my own and the boy for his pirate sword Grin Let me know what ya think!

29  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Hubby's pumpkins on: October 30, 2008 07:38:22 PM
Grin Since hubby doesn't have a craftster account (nor is ever likely to get one  Tongue) and I am uber proud of him for all of his pumpkin-y goodness for the yard this year. Here is a couple of the ones he's done for the kiddies (so he says) Grin
