1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: IKEA Malma Mirror Swap Gallery on: March 17, 2009 02:17:29 PM
Here is the mirror I received from Smmarrt. She did a great job with the beach background. I loved the scrabble letters and basket of beach goodies!

Thanks Susan!
2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: IKEA Malma Mirror Swap -Send-outs 3/16 on: February 22, 2009 03:17:19 PM
Last time I went I picked up two mirrors. Let's hope I don't mess up. But Ikea's close and I actually like going there (You can get the weirdest stuff) so it wont be too bad if I want more.

This Christmas I personalized these mirrors for all my bf's nieces. They really liked them. So I can't wait to make some more. Now I just have to look for some more ideas.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you like them. And to answer your questions- I used craft contact adhesive to glue the tiles onto cork board that I cut into squares. Hope that helps!

Ab-Fab! Did you glue them to a backing?

Thank you very much!

As for the base I cut some cork board into squares and then glued the tiles to the cork. And then used mod podge to seal them. I probably should have used stronger sealent but we'll see.

Thanks! And I was lucky to have a source for the letters. I was given the letters to use in my class but my kids were to old to use them. But I was asked several times where I found all the blank pieces  Grin Good luck finding letters if you decide to make them for your SIL.

My boyfriend and I love scrabble so I decided to make him these scrabble coasters as a Christmas/getting an apt together gift. I didn't want the coasters to just be a bunch of random letters so I came up with a list of words that have to do with drinking (types of drinks, types of glasses etc.) I also didn't want the coasters to be huge so I needed the words to be five letters or less. Making the list was easy; arranging the words so that they connect like in scrabble was a little more difficult.  I made six different coasters all with different words. I took one picture of all six (it didn't turn out the best) and I took three close ups of the coasters I liked the best. Here is my completed project. Although he loved them he still forgets to use a coaster most of the time!
