Okay Im sure this has been asked before but Ive searched and couldnt find anything so if Im just missing it, please let me know! I cant be the only one who doesnt know how to do button holes.  Maybe someone knows of a good website that can show me? I cant find anything useful. And naturally, I seem to have lost the manual to my sewing machine, so can any of you oh-so-talented people tell me if any of these are a button foot? Or what the heck that long metal thing is? (Yes its that bad, I have NO idea what Im doing!) And the fabric in the picture is what I need to put the button holes in, just for reference. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you guys!

I really want to try using some of the free patterns on the Burda sites that you print out but I dont want to use regular (i.e. thick) paper. What do you guys use? Is there a thinner paper I can buy? Or do I just use the regular kind?

What exactly is a walking foot? What does it do? And does anyone have a picture of one? Thanks! Id like to *try* to make a quilt, and this contraption is supposed to help, right?   

I fell in love with this coat pattern when I saw it and though I realized it was more than a little bit advanced for my skills, I at least thought I would be able to start if before I had to beg you guys for help!! But as it stands now, I havent even cut the pieces out. So I'm doing great so far.    Anyway my question is this; how in the hell do I cut this fabric without having it all unravel on me? I lost about two inches off of the unfinished edges when I washed it and now im terrified to cut it. Any ideas? im totally lost here and my 4 year old daughter has declared that I should buy the coat because it takes too long to make it!  Okay this is they first time I've tried to post a pic, so I hope it works.

Okay I *think* this is the right place for this!  I need some ideas for organizing and storing ribbon and various type of lace. I have just come into a bit of a collection and need a way to make it available and neat. I have different kinds, (sewing type ribbon, wired present wrapping ribbon, and lacey edging type stuff,), but most of them are on rolls so maybe some sort of dowel setup? But a lot of the lace is not on rolls, so what can i do with it? Does anyone have any tips?

Hi everyone! I found this site a couple weeks ago while I was looking for patterns, and I have been completely hooked ever since.
