1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Pregnant & Newborn Swap! on: April 03, 2008 08:09:36 AM
I've never done a swap before but I defintely want to get in on this, if it's not too late!  I just found out I'm due in December!

wow.......I have always wanted this dress and you made it!!!  I am so beyond impressed.  It's beautiful!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / son's Easter outfit-Simplicity 4243 on: March 17, 2008 07:12:59 PM
This is the first pattern I've sewn with no help from my mom-so I am WAY proud.  Plus I love this fabric!

Please excuse the crazy leg part, once I finish posting this, I'm going to sew the snap tape in.  Smiley

Detail of the pleats-my flash died or something on this pic.

I'm going to buy a white collared onesie (because the sleeves from the pattern completely mistified me so I went sleeveless) and I'm halfway through making matching shoes so action shots will come sometime next week.

Oh and here's the adorable baby who will be wearing said outfit-

Those are awesome!!

I've been debating on whether to get McCalls 5512-was it easy to sew?  And does it fit well?  I'm scared it'll look weird on me but I keep coming back to that pattern!

Hahahaha I just did the exact same thing with my dress and was thinking about the same solution.  Good to know it turns out okay!  I'm about to start sewing the bias tape on (UGH) but I could tell after trying it on, it would be too small in the waist.  Sucks too, the fabric I used was EXPENSIVE.  :\

I love them!  I'm currently half-way through the McCalls 5575-did the neckline give you trouble?  Maybe it's just the fact that it's one of the first patterns I've tried to do by myself, I don't know but I was ready to throw that thing across the room!  Hopefully it turns out well and if I decide to make it again, it'll be easier.

That is awesome!!  Where do you find a checkerboard cake pan???

I picked up some of that Pooh fabric at Hobby Lobby today....$6 a yard!!  But I remembed these shoes and I couldn't help it, I had to get it.  I wound up getting enough to do a jumper and the shoes for my little boy-I figure it'll be his Easter outfit.  Smiley

how old is your little boy?  and please post pictures...i would love to see what you make!

He's 7 months...I know the pattern says up to 6 months but I figure I'll just tweak it to fit.  I'll be sure and post pictures-I've still got to get the fleece before I start.  Smiley

they look so warm!!!
and the baby by the way--- if you don't want him, ill take him!

Haha that's what everyone says!  Wink

Wink Super cute baby - love the legs too   Grin  How did you make them?

Thanks!  I followed this tutorial- http://www.flickr.com/photos/babyhopes/237396880/in/set-72157594274454468/
SO EASY.  It takes me about 15 minutes or so to do one pair.  They're great!

ok-I feel like an idiot-but what are these made from? knee socks that you cut the ends off of?  I've been making baby slings all morning & my brain isn't functioning anymore!!
Yup, women's knee high socks!  You can usually get 2 pair for $5-$6 at Target.  The tutorial  is posted above.  Smiley
Oh my how adorable!!  Here is a little FYI for baby legs too... they make good baby "arms" too.  My (4 year old) put them on her arms under her t-shirt.  Looked like a long sleeve t-shirt underneath and kept her warm and quite stylish  Grin
Oooh good idea!  I'll have to let me 3 year old niece know she can do that too!
