281  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: knitting swap? on: October 08, 2004 08:50:14 PM
Thanks.  Hopefully, a couple more people will be interested.  If so, I will set it up.

Oh, well.  Lucky for you, though!  Good luck with your next scarf.
283  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Re: NEW s n' b book to be out late fall! on: October 04, 2004 07:18:16 PM
I just wanted to add to the discussions of "Knit Wit" and "SnB Nation" that both authors are currently on book tours - so you can chat with them in person and, if Ms. Stoller's last tour is any indication, see and touch completed projects that are in the book.

I actually work at the store noted at the veeery begining of this thread, Knit Happens, and Amy Singer is going to be there on Friday.  Debbie Stoller will be visiting us on Dec. 4th (although, for some reason, her web site doesn't show any of her engagements right now).  If you are in the DC area, please drop by.  Otherwise, check with your local LYS - they may be on the way.
284  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: 1" button swap on: October 04, 2004 06:33:18 PM
I would like to participate in the button swap.  I don't make my own, but I do have quite a few gathered up.
285  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / knitting swap? on: October 04, 2004 06:03:39 PM

Would anybody be interested in a knitting/yarn-craft specific swap?  We could trade either yarn, supplies, or both.  Obviously, we would need rules about what sort of things we would accept (just to make sure one person didn't send cashmere and get acrylic, you know)

If there is some interest, I would be happy to do the organizing.

Where is this wool factory?  Do they take orders from afar?  That sounds so cool.  The colors in your scarf are really pretty.

Also, in case you were wondering why it rolls, it's because it is knit in stockinette. One of my early projects had the same problem.  If you want to avoid it, try a pattern that is the same front and back (like ribbing or garter) or do a few border stitches on each side.

Here is a version of these that I made using the Blue Sky Alpaca 100% Alpaca in purple (53).  One skein was more than enough for the pair - even going up on to the fingers as I did.  I used US 6's, but it still went fairly quickly.

P.S. This is my first craftster post.  I hope I haven't done anything wrong.
