1  Out of Africa quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by Eowynt on: February 01, 2014 07:48:43 AM
My sister spent three years in Kenya teaching physics at a girls school through the Peace Corps.  Making a quilt for her for Christmas, I used her Kenya adventure as inspiration.

I also pieced the back so that it is two quilts in one. . . You can see the stippling here, as well.

Thanks for letting me share.

2  Re: Michelle makes the cutest patterns in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Eowynt on: December 29, 2013 01:36:07 PM
Just thought I'd share some more reusable totes I made from Michelle's patterns.  These are for my nephews, though I may have trouble parting with R2D2.

This is one of the easiest zippers I have ever installed.

4  Black, yellow, and grey cross-body bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Eowynt on: August 02, 2013 07:40:56 AM
Do you ever fall for a fabric, even if it doesn't go with anything you own??  That is me with this line of black/grey/yellow fabric.  I am a blue girl.  Everything I own is either blue or wants to be blue.  But  then I fell in love     with a fabric  that doesn't go with blue.  I have had a blast sewing with it. . .  and I am sure someone I know wears these colors. . .  I shared about a bunch of the things I have made in this post: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=422248.msg5011259#msg5011259

. . . and here is my latest:

My model may not give it back. . . .

5  A very pink pleated tote in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Eowynt on: July 24, 2013 01:11:18 PM
I scored some fabulous pink batik fabric with a cool shell fossil motif (what are these shells called??) from an older friend who was destashing.  It was a find I couldn't pass up, so decided to combine this with a desire to try a new pattern.  I chose Artsy-Crafsty Babe's free tutorial/pattern, the pleated tote to make this:

Here is an interior shot:

And an action shot:

I am really happy with how it turned out!!  I may have to make more. . .

I made a couple of Michelle's keychain clutches.  Perfect for holding chapstick, cards, hand-sanitizer. . .

7  Super simple striped quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by Eowynt on: June 14, 2013 07:36:13 AM
Inspired by a quilt I saw somewhere on Crafster awhile ago, I got out some of my unused jelly roll strips, and pieced together a super, duper simple quilt.  This is by far the simplest quilt I have ever made, but I still really like it.

I used variegated thread throughout - pink on the pink strips, green on the green, purple on the purple, then I waited.  What to do with the white parts?  Mettler threads to the rescue- I found a light pink to white variegated thread that was just perfect for the white parts.  Problem solved. You can kinda-sorta see the variegations on the back:

Made a few more Michelle patterns, the bubble pouch and another curvy clutch.  Both made from old jeans.

10  The Phoebe Bag's big sister, Ruby in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Eowynt on: April 15, 2013 08:44:54 AM
I LOVE the Phoebe bag (see: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=415264.0#axzz2QXx6Jzto , http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=418643.msg4955389#msg4955389 ) . . . but did you know that Artsy Crafty Babe had a bigger version, named the "Ruby."  I didn't either. . . until now.  The Ruby is not only bigger, but it includes two variations. It is a big bag and uses a lot of fabric. . .  I usually use smallish bags, and I usually buy small pieces of fabric.  What's a girl to do?  Well I cut up my old couch cover (It had worn thin in the middle, but the sides were still in great shape), and I came up with:
.
I love the texture of the fabric - it looks great without any embellishment.  For the inside, I used left over fabric from a quilt I made:
.
The pocket is made from the rounded part of the lining that I cut out.

Watcha think?
