These are beautiful. I wish I had seen it earlier. I have a baby shower to go to and I have a baby size handmade quilt that needs some jazzing up. I don't think I have enough time to make it into a gift by this weekend. Are you sure the marker will stay after heat setting?

Thank you so much. Amlot of people have complimented me on these but no one has much of an idea what to do with them. I tried offering them on a special order type of basis. The people provide me with a picture and I do the rest....but no takers. Oh well,,,whatcha gonna do?

This is an adorable photo of a little relative of mine that just cried out for wings and flowers. I have been doing this with pictures of my own children for a few  years. This is a small (5 1/2 X 4) mixed medium collage. I used old Bird and Bloom magazines for the pictures surrounding the photo of Bekka. The sky is done with permanent markers and some water color as well as paint. I love doing these.
5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: The "Official" Colorant Thread on: June 29, 2009 08:18:48 PM
Thanks for the help and advice.I just ordered some MP from one of the links I got here along with an oxide or two. All I really want is a light lavender color and a black soap. Will let you know how it goes.
6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: The "Official" Colorant Thread on: June 21, 2009 07:46:29 AM
In the original post it was stated to NEVER use food coloring in soaps. I was wondering why not? I was looking at a site and it listed a soap colorant they offered as Yellow # 5 which is a food colorant. I think.

I am just starting this soap thing and am having a hard time finding colorants that are affordable.

Another question I have is about finding a black colorant. I want to make a black soap. Any ideas? I thought that a black food coloring would have been a good choice. Thanks!

8  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Blank Silk Scarves Needed on: May 11, 2008 05:21:32 AM
I did a search on the entire board and this thread only and cannot come up with any links. I am looking for white silk scarves to dye. I have checked Dharma Trading but they are in California and I am in New York so the shipping for them is pretty hefty, even though they are fairly light. Does anyone ahve any sources closer to my neck of the woods? Maybe even something with free shipping if you buy a certain amount? Thanks and sorry I am too challenged to do a decent search. I am pretty bad at internet research. How can that be so?
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Re: Let's Collaborate:"I Don't Know What To Get For My Boyfriend/Fiance" on: February 11, 2008 08:30:59 AM
Two years ago I made my bf a collage of mostly me and a lot of things that were symbolic to us. For example...once I was able to come up with some makeshift nachos in a hotel room that he though were pretty good, (just ok by my standards) so there was a pictures of nachos, the Small World ride in Disney World, the picture I use for my icon here was repeated a number of times. Some of it a bit erotic..like handcuffs, feathers, whippy things Cool. It actually got to be a bit much but, he's never had one made for him before or probably will again.

Last year our relationship had  evolved to the point where he was living here with me and we got snowed in. Neither of us could get to the store so my daughter and I made a boot print heat and squirted it with red food color and water. He was on the roof pushing the snow off. The camera was dead so we didn't get a picture of it.

This year....I have no idea.
10  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: New Sellers on: January 22, 2008 03:18:09 AM
I started an etsy store a few months ago and had/have the problem of feedback. Eventually my boyfriend's mother bought something. She seemed to like the stuff even though it was probably a "mercy buy" originally and she left good feedback. I have had a few problems getting people to take the time to go back and leave feedback.

This brings to mind something that happened recently. I sent a felted clutch via USPS and it was returned because the person had no mail receptacle. So I emailed the buyer and she responded "Had you Fed Exed it, it would have been delivered directly to the door." There was no mentioned of that in the email and I didn't offer Fed Ex.She offered to pay the extra postage...but you could tell she was tad miffed. She never did pay that postage so I'm not going to sweat it. I already left her positive feedback and she has left none.

So...do most people use Fed Ex or UPS? For me...keeping my stuff light, it seems USPS is the best way to go. Not to mention I don't have to drive 15 miles to get to it.
