You could hunt around some thrift shops and pick up 2 or 3 vintage craft books or magazines for her then make a nice bookmark to go with them.

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Ice Blue Ear Cosy on: October 14, 2010 10:52:28 AM
Thanks. if you make it post me a link, I'd love to see. This is my first crochet tute so let me know if the pattern works out alright.

Thanks complex - They do look abnormally long in that photo but then i guess I generally don't see shots of my myself from that angle!
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Ice Blue Ear Cosy on: October 13, 2010 03:11:09 PM
Just a quick post of my latest project.

It's all shell stitch and took about 3 hours. It's great for not mussing up the ould hair too much- no more hat hair.

This project is so easy, honestly, a great starting point for someone just starting crochet who wants to try a more decorative stitch.

The wool I used was 50g of Jaeger Siena 4 Ply and the hook was 3.5mm

So on to the pattern my lovelies.
Chain 32,
Row 1. Single crochet into 2nd chain from hook, skip 2, {double crochet 5 times into the next stitch, skip 2, single crochet into next stitch, skip 2} repeat x4. For the next shell just double crochet into the stitch three times. Each row should have 4 and a half shell patterns.
Row 2. Chain one, turn, {single crochet into next stitch, skip 2, double crochet 5 times into the next stitch, skip 2} repeat x4. On the last shell double crochet into the stitch three times.
Row 3. Repeat Row 2
Row 4. Repeat Row 2 ... and so on
Continue like this until you have a strip of about 61cm (24 inches).

When complete twist in the centre. You can sew together or crochet the ends together.

Some background and inspiration info on my blog if you're curious.

I love these. They would be wonderful as Burtonesque chirstmas decorations.

This is inspired! The shape says serious and sophisticated but the fabric says fun and playful. The there's the ruffle which just says sexy. Win!
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Inifinity Gown: Blue and Yellow on: August 08, 2010 06:21:02 AM
Fabulous. I love the length (on you - I'm way to short for a maxi). I made an infinity dress ages ago but used a circle skirt and it messed it up totally. Will try again with an A-line I think
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Dresses, dresses, dresses! (7 of them--massive post!) on: August 08, 2010 06:13:11 AM
Beautifu,l excellent stuff. I really like your workmanship - very neat. The First dress and the heart cutouts are my favorites but they are all brilliantly executed.

Thanks, yep I was going for a subtle pin-up style.
