541  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Basket Weaving! on: August 13, 2004 02:53:27 PM
my mom taught me to weave baskets when i was in college.  i have a few of the baskets i made around my apartment, generally simple round, square or rectangle bottomed with a handle.   i though it was pretty fun, but then again, i just used her materials (did not buy them and did not have to store those big things of reed).  i did make some tiny freehand ones which were fun.  my mom taught herself and now holds classes for her friends in her garage.

have you made the basket that has the old time potato masher as the handle?  you like weave the reed through the masher thingy.  they are pretty cute, my mom made me one for my birthday.
542  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Re: Sublime sweaters on: August 12, 2004 10:25:43 AM
wow cool!  i love the skulls on that angelic white sweater.

question: how many thread strands did you use?
543  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Re: Kitty Pillow on: August 10, 2004 02:23:14 PM
i love the way the black stands out against the lighter colors.  did you make the image from a picture of your cat?  very nice pose, like the cat is looking out of the pillow at you.
544  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: bunnies and a fork ++ on: August 10, 2004 07:37:38 AM
wow i would totally buy one of each if i saw you at a show.  i think i like the first bunnies the best though because when i first looked at them, it looked like they were wearing little snowsuits or disguises (with their tummies showing i guess).
545  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: rarrr the monster on: August 10, 2004 07:32:53 AM
thanks!  his horns were dang hard to hand stitch (and stuff!) cuz he is a little guy.  i was thinking about using his design to embroider on a shirt or purse or something.
546  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: hoot hoot, my first post on: August 10, 2004 07:25:55 AM
thanks for the compliments!  the pattern is one of the days of the week ones (3771-hooty owls).  i think that sometimes with those patterns the picture on the cover is not that exciting looking, but then if you try it out, they are way cute.  also, the little test pattern owl with this set is adorable (almost cuter than the regular owls).  he is actually on the back of this purse, but i didn't take a pic of him.  thanks for the nice welcome to craftster!!
547  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / tiny hanging pillow thingys on: August 09, 2004 05:37:55 PM
hmm. i hope this is the right place to put this.  i made these last year out of felt and/or scrap fabric and beads and/or old earrings.  i hand-sewed them (at the time no sewing machine).  guess this is a good project if you have little scraps of fabric, broken earrings, etc.

sorry, kind of blurry, still trying to figure out how to work my new digi-camera.
548  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / my dad's fishy present on: August 09, 2004 05:33:42 PM
so my dad is SOOO hard to buy for.  so i try to make him things these days & his birthday is this week.  i had this papermache box thingy with the window top (i previously had decoupaged it, but did not like how it turned out).  ended up being able to reuse the box by embroidering this fishy design (from a book) on muslin and sticking it in the window.  voila!
549  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / rarrr the monster *now with couple together!* on: August 09, 2004 05:28:02 PM
meet rarrr the monster.  he's hanging out on the porch.  is he angry?  is he mad?  did he get into a fight?  does he hate flowers?  i can't tell you.  he just grimaces at me when i ask.

550  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / hoot hoot, my first post on: August 09, 2004 05:23:31 PM
my first post, gee whiz.  this is a bag i embroidered using an aunt martha's design.  the bag was one of those premade decorate-as-you-wish ones.  it was made kind of silly, with a wide opening on the top and sides so i made a little drawstring bag to put inside.  keep all my lipgloss tubes from tumbling out of the sides...
