Thanx Nathalie, I will pop over to that one today. My daughter is demanding  a "santa hat" now instead of one like mine!

OKay, so I spent another hour one the internet searching... then found a post on here "teach me to crochet" and found yet another link to Lionsbrand... it had thrown me off that you need to register for the patterns, but I gave it a try anyway!

Surprise, and to my great enjoyment, I found something on there!!

Yeah for me!!

Thank you anyone who already viewed this. I am going to try to post a pic of it soon... I am so freakin' proud of myself... I'm wearing it inside right now!

So, I am relatively new to crochet. I can read most patterns, unless they are hugely complicated. (Luckily, most come with an abbreviation key).
I have done a lot of searching, but am having a hard time finding something just right. Either the hat is ugly, or the pattern is hugely complicated and I just can't comprehend it as a beginner.
I am looking for a toque (HAT) that stays relatively close to the head and has earflaps.
I would like to make one for me (small head, as in One-size hats are HUGE on me) and daughter (almost 3 years). I am getting the jist that all I have to do for that is chane my hook size... is that right?
Any and all help would be REALLY appreciated.
Thanx so much
-Claire
